[Myanmar] Burma Airport Arrivals More Than Double

The number of tourists entering Burma through its international airports has more than doubled to around 1,500 per day, according to local media reports. Citing official statistics, the Weekly Eleven News journal reported that 364,743 tourists had entered the country through Rangoon so far this year, while another 26,433 flew into three other international airports. The total number of tourists expected to enter Burma in 2012 is expected to reach 1.5 million, including cross-border visitors. This compares with around 800,000 in 2011, when daily airport arrivals averaged around 600-700.
