OPP DEMANDS OPSDC TO CLARIFY ITS REASONS ON PROPOSING TO MAKE A LAW AMENDMENT

Opposition Leader ABHISIT VEJJAJIVA (อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ) has demanded the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPSDC) to clarify the reasons to amend a law so as to empower Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Referring to the OPSDC’s proposal to allow the premier to be empowered while certain ministers are being transferred, the Opposition leader said that any amendment should be concerned over the actual intention of the law. He indicated that the premier has currently seized almost all powers, and every decision has to be made by him. Hence, he viewed that such empowerment is not necessary.

However, Mr. ABHISIT declined to comment about the internal issues of the Thai Rak Thai Party.
