Ice In Your Beer

Featured Replies

On my first visit to Isaan a few years ago I had no choice but to put ice in beer as everywhere was serving warm/hot beer.

Anyway a few years down the track and back here in Phuket I still find myself putting ice in beer - have I lost the plot???

You have certainly lost something.

Ice in beer is disgusting but I have had plenty with ice when there was no other option other than hot beer.

big beer in a bucket of ice......have you ever seen one beer commercial with ice in beer? If it ain't cold; I'm leaving.

in days of old when unscupulous landlords put water in the beer no different today when you see thai's put 4 or 5 large ice cubes in a half pint glass of leo if its not ice cold have it back and go ellswhere.

Yawn - we'll be discussing whether you like salt on your chips fries or onions on your hot dog. Thai beer is in that league of gastronomic excellence. Up to youwhistling.gif

Dismissive, Kantharalak

Putting ice in beer is a capital offence and the perp should be executed on the spot ! whistling.gifwhistling.gif

You've lost the plot completely!

I'm from a country where they say they brew the best beer on this planet. Ice inside beer is a sin. After many years of drinking iced beer, I've switched to cans.

It's even tastier than drinking a bottle with Naam Kaeng. The Naam Kaeng isn't that Kaeng in reality......coffee1.gif

Better yet, just freeze large quantities of "beer cubes".....

Serve as is.

Problem solved.

As was stated to me some time back when I asked a fellow why he put ice in his beer. "It's the only water I get."

Beer is expensive in Thailand, hence people use ice to delute it. It also helps to camouflage the rather not so good taste of some of the local brands.

BTW. I use ice in my Chang. smile.png

Not a fan of ice in beer, so I now use one of those insulated liter cups you buy in 7/11 holds a big bottle and with a few ice cubes stays cold to the end. Just going to have one now. Jim

My beer drinking procedures when in Thailand:

I normally drink Beer Chang from large bottles.

Preparation: Put beers in the fridge hours before usage.

1. step: Fill a glass with ice cold beer. Drink fast.

2. step: Fill the glass with ice. Fill the glass with beer. Stir. Drink fast.

3. step: Fill the glass with beer. Stir two times. Drink fast.

Repeat step 2 and 3 until you run out of beers.

I can't remember more steps.

Cheers!

Send wife/gf to stock up the fridge. cool.png

I drink my Archa beer, served by these pretty Heineken girls and dream of a cold beer from Laos......coffee1.gif

Always keep an ample stock of beer in the fridge. Keep glasses in the freezer and enjoy a nice cool drink. Do not know what the Singha Corp would say about diluting their fine beer, but to an english boozer it is a definite nono.
