Its so true..get a proper visa and no dramas....you can even get a 12 month education visa. Its only 2 hours a week of Thai lessons. You might not learn anything but you can sit at the back of the class and flick rubber bands at other students.....they might even help you get access to a cheap swimming pool. From memory La Merdian is 200 baht so you are already in front there

People shooting money away in the casinos are quite dumb imo. It's how i make 40% of my living. I laugh my ass off at people bragging about dumping $ in games. They're clearly just intellectually inferior.

i did reply in the tipping thread and fyi i tip the mcdonalds delivery boy about 60-100baht every time.

I find people intellectually inferior when they can't even get their immigration details sorted and still do visa runs.

Only people I knew that did visa runs didn't last here too long and it was due to either having a limited budget or weren't taking living here seriously and just blowing through. Which category do you fall under?

It's informative as an insight into expat life in phuket and what the madhouse attracts. Visa runs right up to an illegal casino island. Couldn't make this stuff up...

Not sure where the illegality comes into it. The whole island is leased from the Burmese government by Vikram, a wealthy Thai politician and former governor of Ranong province. Gambling casinos are legal in Myanmar, (but not in Thailand)

Just like I wasn't sure how you teaching english there comes into it.

Thanks for the reminder, yea it's a classic. In OZ we call them blind brown mullet, same as you see in the waters off Patong. Marine members of the Schitt family, a very common species .

To take my post # 39 a bit further has anyone arrived at the Marina Bay Sands Casino on foot, suitably attired but not a penguin suit, and neither a guest, with the equivalent of 625 baht in local currency to spend on the tables. On a scale of 1 to 10 what would be my chances ?? What would the minimum dress requirements be, I realise a mankini wouldn't cut it. To take it further would there be a chance of a dip in the infinity edge pool, fully clothed in a Muslim burka if necessary ??.

If the answer is zero to the above how much of the available 5655 baht would it take to be, In like Flynn, so as to speak ?? I don't really need to know what to do when I get there, been going to the university of life for more than a few years, just if anyone has had first hand experience with the joint or can offer any advice.

This is a serious enquiry, firstly, 1. to answer Snamos's question post # 44 and 2. to give a serious opinion to members if this is a worthwhile, safe, quick and economical way to do a visa run, maybe even take the bride. As I said to someone today, at worst I'd rather be stuck 6 hrs. in Sing international terminal than 6 hrs. in a Mosque ( KL ) so is this a viable option to make the best of a bad trip ??
