Lifan Scooter Voltage

Featured Replies

I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me what voltage a Lifan 110 scooter is running - 6v or 12v. Thanks.

Thanks. But...

I've just got hold of a voltmeter and have checked the charging system (disconnected battery, started bike, connected voltmeter to - and + battery cables) - and it's putting out @6.5v to battery. So, unless the charging system can go wrong and half voltage supply (possible?), it's a 6v system.

It's a Lifan Ares 110.

The battery in it is a 12v (6 cell) - no good. Check bulbs! Good idea....

I was thinking that the battery was a 12N5-3B? So if you read 6.5 Volt from your voltmeter and you had problems that the battery did not charge well you probably have to return to the Lifan dealer.

Bulbs are 12v. Original battery is a Yusan CB6.5L-A. Looks like it is a problem with the charging system - just was thinking it's a 6v system and wrong battery because it's putting out what a 6v battery would need. Also, at the Chiang Mai Lifan dealer yesterday, the girls 'seemed' to say it was a 7v battery (=6v - guess they're misinterpreting a voltmeter reading). Bit confusing when you can't talk Thai and your wife can't talk batteries...

Rectifier, voltage regulator?

Can't find anything with more than 6.5v running - maybe the stator is dodgy or it's got a 6v one fitted(?!!). Will take it to the shop it was bought from as something needs replacing/fixing.
