In an interview with the BBC on Tuesday, Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi confirmed her desire to lead the people of Burma—“if I can lead them in the right way.†Speaking on the current affairs program Newsnight, Suu Kyi also discussed Burma’s ethnic conflicts, political reform and foreign investment. Earlier in the day, she appeared at the London School of Economics, where she took part in a public debate, and later she celebrated her birthday in Oxford, her former home. On Wednesday she will receive an honorary degree from Oxford University.
