THere's some disturbing insinuations here.

I noticed a paper making a big thing about these guys having been here for 10 years on tourist visas. So the idiot connection is that tourist visas are a haven/licence for criminals wanting to stay in Thailand.

I would suggest that is not the case - the problem is the unsatisfactory visa system here in Thailand. THere is vitally no provision for those with money under 50 to stay here long term.

If a long term visas was available, with a regular "sign-on" period, people like the above would be monitored more easily. As a tourist visa simply requires leaving the country and returning at will through any immigration post they choose to use.

One can assume some knee-jerk response from some loon at immigration when what is needed is a serious, though out review of how to monitor who is saying in the country.

There have been many cases of ATM's being stolen in the uk, although there was usually a JCB involved, and chains not strops, so it can be done.

Who is to say these guys haven't already succeeded with a few ATM nabs in Blighty?

Ten years is a long time on a tourist visa...

If they succeeded before, i am sure they would have used JCB , chains and pick up, instead of a rope and a sedanbiggrin.png

I too will never understand the Thai Immigration system, that is if there is a system?

To me, the definition of a tourist is someone on holiday or on a tour.

Noun.tourist - someone who travels for pleasure

holidaymaker, tourer, traveller - a person who changes location

excursionist, sightseer tripper - a tourist who is visiting sights of interest.

Never heard of such thing as the eternal tourists that seem to be rooting themselves in Thailand.

I believe that a maximum of 3 months is long enough for any holidaymaker.

One option would be, to only permit anyone on a tourist visa to stay in the Kingdom for a maximum of 3 months, than imposed to leave the country for another 3 months minimum, without exceptions.

As for the under 50s, they can stay in Thailand, if working with bona-fide contracts and work permits or married to a Thai spouse. As for the rest, how are they supposed to support themselves in Thailand if not working legally? Appears robbing banks and ATM machines is one option for extension of stay, either in hiding or in Jail.

<deleted>' dumb ass falangs.

Thanks for giving us other falangs such a good status here in our home the LOS.

Every day the Thais realize that falang are not what they used to think we are (good, smart, etc...) because of dumb sots like these.

Please, go pull your antics somewhere other than my home.

Absolutely agree.

We don`t need scum like this as representatives of our countries.

They claim to have no money and were unemployed, so what are they doing here?

It`s makes no difference whether they are Brits or any other Western nationality, because the Thais view us as all the same and whatever reputations these vermin portray to the Thais, reflects on every farang as a group.

You’re right. Why don`t they bugger off back to the underclass’s of England, where they can be with their own kind.

That Pattaya is the pits.

And the best part is you do not even live in Thailandwai.gif

I can't believe he said that

phl, you have got no idea of how stupid that comment was.

While I don' t completly agree with phi, I think you've got some bee in your bonnet regarding the fact that you do not reside in Thailand, get over it,it's not important.

my identity mistake of 2 poster was already acknowledged in the earlier posts, however opinions of how locals see foreigners and think of foreigners is totally relevant when someone not living in Thailand makes a statements.

Locals do not form an opinion from 1 isolated incident, they form an opinion from an every day dealings, and rest assured there is no shortage of "representatives"

I agree with that, and I'll take it one stage further, in many cases, Thais cannot discern the difference between an expat and a tourist. Some of the guys that turn up on short to medium term stays from the UK carry a certain swagger about them which is disliked across the European resorts, never mind anywhere else.

There is no doubt there is a rough contingent, and they leave a legacy for every other farang to deal with.

I fully agree, Thai immigration should make visa's harder to get, increase the monetary requirements required every year etc, got to keep the undesirables out of Thailand

My ideal solution ( from a strictly personal perspective of course) for me to sit in immi and just say "yes" or "no" to the officer in charge as the applicants file past me based on a completely arbitrary system that only I know. The only reason I'd give would be " I don't like the look of him" biggrin.png

no under 25s unless accompanied by an over 40 would be my solution , ....cant see anything like this being introduced but im sure it would be benificial to LOS , so many of these younger guys think they are in ibiza or majorca , i wish they would stay there until they learn something from the "school of life" and show some respect , i know thailand is going down hill and the last thing this country needs is idiots like this making the place look more dangerous than it is , please .............just STAY AWAY !

I agree and also those that arrive at the airport in flip flops and vest should be rejected, it would raise the tone of the place somewhat.

The Thais have figured out over the past 10 years that western governments are dumping all their worthless trailer trash farang men in Thailand and the Philipines. Better they get arrested here than back home where it costs a fortune to incarcerate those limey turds.

We can expect immigration laws to continue tightening like a noose around our necks.

Where is the third idiot in this story ? Probably back in a council flat in Brixton with his <Derogatory generalization removed.>

Two Pattaya Brits arrested following three bungled ATM Robberies

29_06_55_1_3.jpg

PATTAYA:--Two of three British suspects thought to be involved in the theft of three ATM machines within Chonburi Province have been arrested by Provincial Transnational Crime Suppression Police Officers.

The three incidents occurred in Laem Chabang and Bowin which is in Sriracha District. Police were able to arrest the suspects by-chance after they traced the nylon cord used to grab the ATM machines to a shop in Sriracha District. When Police went to the shop, the two suspects were inside and later found to be the two involved in the ATM thefts.

Police Lieutenant General Panya, Region 2 Police Commissioner, held a press conference at Chonburi Police Headquarters on Friday morning to announce the arrest of Mr. Alexander Milbourn aged 24 and Mr. Shaun Edward Tracy aged 34 who were both unemployed and had resided in Pattaya for the last 10 years. They had allegedly devised a plan with a third man, also British, known only as “Richard”, to use Nylon rope attached to a rented vehicle with the other end attached to the cash box of the ATM machine which would then be yanked from the wall. In all three cases the cash boxes could not be opened and the broken ATM machines would be abandoned by the assailants.

The men are thought to have gained inspiration for the robberies from the “Fast Five” Movie which used the same method to successfully remove money from ATM Machines. Police are now hunting for the third suspect in this case and for now Mr. Milbourn and Mr. Tracy remain behind bars pending Court proceedings.

A pair of lazy scum bags. Hope they spend a nice holiday' in the BKK 'Hilton'.

They put shame on the Brits, as now we hard working Brits may be tarnished because of them.

Just like any other wrong doing by foreign assoles, when they get done, the Thais generalise

and bring in laws making it more difficult for us foreigners. Poor things, 'We ran out of money' !!!! Was it for drugs?

Answer: Yes, it was for drugs. Another drug-related crime, as was the stabbing of the Aussie woman (stabber needed to pay a drug bar bill. Young Brits spend a significant portion of their money (even if they only have a little bit) ...on buying beer.

As for tarnished reputation. You need to have had a good reputation in order for it to possibly get tarnished (ok, I jest. It's just so easy to offend Brits. It's like they're walking around with giant hats in the shape of sailing ships of war).

I'm reminded of Thaksin, who slaps defamation suits right and left - as if he's got any decent character left - that may get defamed by what someone says. Ok Brits reading this: take five deep breaths while doing deep knee bends, then make a pledge to your bar-girl-friend that you won't drink any beer for the next two hours. drunk.gif

I'm a Brit and I am not offended by snide remarks often aimed at my countrymen on TV. I am more offended by the scum generated in my Mother country by the Nanny State and the bleeding heart liberals that have all but destroyed the reputation of a once proud population. There are still a majority of hard working people in Britain who are doing their best to uphold what is good and right. However; an underclass has been growing in numbers since the 80's and the majority of this species once used to prowl the streets of Spain and Portugal, the so called 'Lager Louts', who caused endless trouble in those countries and embarrassment at home. Since the introduction of the Euro it's cheaper for the scum to come to Thailand and other countries in SE Asia and commit atrocities here. As long as it stays that way I'm afraid things will continue to get worse, so the way for the Thai and other Governments to deal with it is increase the amounts of money needed to stay for any longer than 30 days. After all; you can't imagine such effluent turning up in such large numbers in places like Hong Kong or Singapore, where you need to be reasonably well heeled to last more than a few days.

Note that it is the cash boxes that could not be opened sucessfully.

They are made that way....for that very reason.

That part wasn't shown in the movie they saw.

I never thought of that, but now thinking about it, that’s exactly what is happening. You are very observant. Very true, why not let these vermin become the Thais problem where they can be incarcerated at a fraction of the cost of a jail sentence in the UK and all at the Thai tax payers expense. I would guess that the British authorities are well glad to be rid of them and the longer the sentence, the better. I wouldn’t mind betting that when British wanted felons book tickets to Thailand that the police are told to look the other way and let them go, as Thailand has a walk in, no questions asked policy.

I very much doubt if these scum would be living in council accommodation in Brixton, not dark enough. The white council house trash prefer the local authority housing of Barking and Dagenham in Essex, big British National Party supporters area and low lives of the highest degree. Dagenham should be twinned with Pattaya.

I think you are missing my point.

The first and most important thing to do, is, to at least not refer to ourselves as farangs.

So a trio of dim bulbs run out of money and decide to make "ATM withdrawals"? What's all the fuss? Give 'em some credit - they actually WERE able to withdraw the ATMs! A few feet anyway... Is it THEIR fault the rope wouldn't fit in the card slot?? I'm sure they'll go on to be physics laureates at the Bangkok Hilton... 'Can't wait to hear how & where the 3rd musketeer eventually gets picked up.

thumbsup.gif Great post. I also love England, own a house there, grew up and went to school there etc. England is great in so many ways, music, books, countryside, history etc. when I travel abroad I introduce myself as Swedish because I am dual national I can pick and choose. That is because of the lager louts, and the fact when I used to introduce myself as English in the Alps or the Med etc. I would get scowled at and offered the worst room they had. And you are right, this is because of the history of lager louts, and the benefits crowd who claimed incapacity for twenty years for nonexistent ailments, sitting round watching Richard & Judy with £150/week in the bank for free. When the benefits stop they are at a loss like babies with the dummy removed. I bet these ATM guys have been on benefits for years. I hate benefit cheats, I'm legitimately sick and I still work & don't claim anything. Little weasels.
