Best Tailor In Samui?

Featured Replies

I'm coming to Samui for two weeks next month and my mate has asked me if i'll get a suit made up for him while I'm on the island for his forthcoming wedding. He won't be with me but plans to give me one of his suits so the tailor can see his size, plus a sample of material. I'm a bit nervous about getting it wrong to be honest - anyone have any advice/experience in these matters? Also, who would you recommend I go to? And what would I be looking at paying? My husband's Thai so if there's a great local tailor he could translate for me.

Any advice welcome. x

Always risky to have a suit made for someone else, even if you have a 'sample' suit. But if you still want to do this, let your husband go to a 'tailor' shop and negotiate the price; there are SO many of them, mainly Indians, but the suits/clothes themselves are mostly done in sweatshops elsewhere.

IF you have the time, go to a tailor in BKK at the Montien Hotel - Suriwongse road; he's very good; nice Thai guy and very good service; it's the one opposite the breakfast/lunchroom.

There is a lovely Indian couple down the road from me who have a tailor shop and I feel sorry for them because they are not in a main tourist area like beach road for example.

Naturally, I would recommend them as they both seem lovely people. I don't have the card on me now but I will PM you the details as soon as I find it.
