[Myanmar] Nasaka Commander Summoned To Naypyidaw

Col Aung Gyi, the commander of the Nasaka border security force in western Burma’s Arakan State, has been summoned to Naypyidaw as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption. According to the Narinjara news agency, local Arakanese villagers accused the Nasaka commander of neglecting to protect them from attacks during last month’s communal riots between Arakanese Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims. According to sources cited in the report, Nasaka has been temporarily placed under the direct command of the Burmese Army’s Western Regional Command.
