[Myanmar] Romney Oversaw Junta-Made Olympic Uniforms

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was chief of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics when torch bearer uniforms were manufactured in Burma while it was run by a brutal military dictatorship. “When I looked at the label for the uniform, I went nuts. When you are sending work representing the US to a military dictatorship, I have an issue with that,†Susan Bonfield, 57, a former US torch bearer for the winter version of the sporting event, told UK-based The Guardian newspaper. Romney has not sought to gain political points in a current row over the US Olympic team’s “Made in China†uniforms.
