On Germany's leading news magazine www.spiegel.de her visit is not even mentioned 555+

They tend to report only stuff that actually happens, or is very likely to happen, and usually has some relevance. They tend to ignore preliminary ideas, unripe fantasies, or feel-good politics, in contrast to the local media here that seems to exclusively focus on the latter.

Beauty and the Beast

Which one would you choose?

As PM? Merkel of course. The ratio between the GDP of Germany and Thailand is equivalent to the ratio in intelligence.

The manner in which the Germans have botched the Euro crisis could cast some doubt on that...

"Thailand is investing in post-flood infrastructure development, Ms Yingluck said. German investors are welcome to invest in Thailand's infrastructure development....."

Didn't a German company do that before with the Don Muang tollway, and isn't millions of Euros still owed?

Maybe once bitten twice shy.

Yep, the Germans siezed a Royal jet when it landed in Germany, trying to recover some of that companies money.

So is this likely to make a BMW, VW or a Mercedes any cheaper over the next few years? I'm not too bothered about the imported booze as I'm happy enough with drinking Leo (although some cider would be nice) but being able to buy a VW Golf for a realistic price would be very appealing.
