Blood Donation In Phuket

Can someone give me a clue, please?

Having seen the various requests for blood, when I was over at Christmas I went down to Phuket International Hospital and, after having a check-up (they told me I need to lose weight, so I suppose not everyone can be wrong) I offered to bleed into a bottle for them.

The doctor was very nice but told me that unless I had rhesus negative blood (I have O+) my bodily fluids would not be required as stocks were fine and donors plentiful.

I now read in the Gazette that O- and O+ stocks are dangerously low. Is there a mistake, or is it that PIH have stocks that they keep, leaving others to fend for themselves? Or worse, is this from fear that if they have my blood, recipients' hair will turn ginger? (This forum is in danger of becoming hairist).

It is a serious point, though - are stocks low or not?

I'm not sure about current supply, but myself and a number of friends have been added to the doner registrar.

Should an emergency happen and blood is needed they will contact us via phone and ask us to come in and give blood.

Hope who ever gets my blood likes chang *hick*
