Thai plain-cloth police officers escort a British suspect Robert Dominique Bernard, 29, before a press conference at Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok, Thailand, Tuesday July 24, 2012.

Interpol and Thai police arrested the suspect involved in a drug gang murder in North London five years ago.

BANGKOK - Thai police have arrested a British suspect in an apparent gang-related killing five years ago in London. Police Colonel Prasopchoke Prommoon said Tuesday that a joint British-Thai police team found Robert Dominique Bernard working at an electronics parts factory in Lamphun province, 550 kilometres (340 miles) north of Bangkok. He was arrested Monday.

Bernard is accused of shooting 20-year-old Duane Tomlin to death as he stepped out of a taxi in Enfield, North London, in July 2007.

Police said Bernard left for Thailand on the same day as the shooting and travelled with an Ivory Coast passport.

Does this mean that Brixton is now twined with Lamphun?

Does this mean that Brixton is now twined with Lamphun?

Brixton is in South London, surely.

The Shooting took place in Enfield. That is North London

The other paper lists his employer as Cherrytech Asia Co. in Muang district of Lamphun province where he worked as a technician. The company is headquartered in Portsmouth, UK.

Police said Bernard left for Thailand on the same day as the shooting and travelled with an Ivory Coast passport.

Interpol lists Kouaolio Christophe Brou as his name on the above passport.

i wonder who grassed him up,was it a girlfriend who knew the truth or got upset and told the police

He must have been blended in well, wonder if he had a work permit?

A criminals hideaway, I wonder how many more are evading the law?

Why do you assume he was grassed up and suggest a girlfriend?

Reading the report it seems that Interpol informed Thai police about his passport name and he was tracked down, .

Oh goody goody, another scumbag for the British taxpayer to support for around 14 years in the slammer. Not only that but when he gets back he will start claiming benefits for all the rest of his family that are back there as well, and when he is released he will be given a free council house and 300 quid a week to live on. Be better if they put a bounty on these peoples heads to be claimed when returning a corpse.

Yes indeed, another passenger on the welfare train (aka socialism). Government helping those who won't, don't, help them selves.

Does it matter, north, south, east or west he was wanted for murder. Pity the death penalty has been abolished.

Wonder if he had a work permit??? ha ha..

Wow, no offense, but you sound just like we Americans used to. Until we discovered 3 strikes and jail for life and the death penalty. Now we can proudly state we have the most people incarcerated of any industrialized nation.

Why assume they he will be claiming social security? His family could be university professors for all we know!!

so nice all those foreigners in our home countries with double or tripple passports... must be nice if you commit a crime you can flee under another identity

A black dude hiding in Lamphun? Musta stuck out like a sore thumb. I would have thought African areas of Bangkok or Vientiane would have provided better cover.

Hey, I thought only the US had the black thugs and the British had those bald headed white thugs.

A series of the ubiquitous police press conference photos with the suspect and some of the farang cops who helped the Thais to bust him.

Daily News - July 24, 2012

Why do people support racism by using racist words? This is like if a black person in America were talking about some picture from the news and said, 'Here are the nigger cops who helped...'

glad they caught him ...why dont the poms just get him back to the uk and then send him to where he came from ? in oz its so hard to deport criminals that stupid labor govt years ago signed all those dogooder deals we have a person in oz at the moment who murdered a policeman he has served 10 years and now they want to deport him but he says i dont want to go ...<deleted>

Hope he gets banged up here for a few years first for traveling on a fake passport before he is sent back to face his UK charges!
