It looks like he lost considerable weight in the TC photo. Wonder why?

Perhaps he was afraid to eat out???

Thailand should change their nickname from "Land of Smiles" to "Land Where Criminals Hide".

glad they caught him ...why dont the poms just get him back to the uk and then send him to where he came from ? in oz its so hard to deport criminals that stupid labor govt years ago signed all those dogooder deals we have a person in oz at the moment who murdered a policeman he has served 10 years and now they want to deport him but he says i dont want to go ...<deleted>

because its the same here in pom land, due to our handing over of some 1000 years worth of national sovereign power to a group of European bureaucrats, im afraid the horse has bolted, we cannot even deport terrorists who openly want to destroy western style civilization due to ironically western civilizations 'human rights' i'm afraid insanity prevails now

That would be LWCH...Hmmmm easier to type LOS! But true your

statement...why do crims always want to come here? There's always

the Philippines and Cuba and all of South America to include Latin

America, There's Florida & Mexico...etc...why Thailand?

Could it be the food?

There are probably a fair few in number in those other countries as well.

Yes thaddeus...I agree 100%...perhaps the other places are a bit

over crowded?

i wonder who grassed him up,was it a girlfriend who knew the truth or got upset and told the police

Why do you assume he was grassed up and suggest a girlfriend?

Reading the report it seems that Interpol informed Thai police about his passport name and he was tracked down, .

If not the ex Thai gf, then who? You say they tracked him down through its fake passport....During 5 years. It took 5 years for the track? Comon! Please dont treat us as idiots. Of course he was grassed up.

A criminals hideaway, I wonder how many more are evading the law?

NOT THE LAND OF SMILES BUT THE LAND OF PLENTY MEANING CRIMINALS OF ALL TYPES THE PLACE IS AWFULL BUT PEOPLE LOOK AT IT THROUGH ROSE TINTED GLASSES OR HAVE I HAD ENOUGH OF THAILAND JUST A THOUGHT

Oh goody goody, another scumbag for the British taxpayer to support for around 14 years in the slammer. Not only that but when he gets back he will start claiming benefits for all the rest of his family that are back there as well, and when he is released he will be given a free council house and 300 quid a week to live on. Be better if they put a bounty on these peoples heads to be claimed when returning a corpse.

Yeah, that's the American attitude towards criminals, which is why we have that "revolving door" of prisoners who keep on returning back to prison, because they are left essentially without the right to vote, are denied jobs, often find themselves homeless. The next time you criticize America, as most people from Europe I meet do, then think about what you have in common with that type of attitude.

I can see them all posting here in the next few minutes....

Yes indeed, another passenger on the welfare train (aka socialism). Government helping those who won't, don't, help them selves.

Why assume they he will be claiming social security? His family could be university professors for all we know!!

Yeah right; and I've got Pixie's at the bottom of my garden and a Sister in the Wrens with big tits !

He must be a mental midget. Why not just go back to Ivory Coast, where he could blend in & bribe local cops. Rasta Haired, Black Dude in small Thai town, working illegal, musta stuck out like a like a dead Gwai in downtown BKK? Shudda stayed in Soi Cowboy.

I think they need to bring back public floggings and hangings. Perhaps the rack and drawing and quartering. That really cleaned up the criminals, didn't it???

Well no, but many "civilised people" seem to think it worked!!!!

Interpol and Thai police arrested the suspect involved in a drug gang murder in North London five years ago

Chiang Rai Times

One of Britain’s Most Wanted Arrested in Lamphun

Thai police have arrested a British suspect in an apparent gang-related killing five years ago in London.

Police Col. Prasopchoke Prommoon said Tuesday that a joint British-Thai police team found Robert Dominique Bernard working at an electronics parts factory in Lamphun province, 550 kilometres (340 miles) north of Bangkok. He was arrested Monday.

Bernard is accused of shooting 20-year-old Duane Tomlin to death as he stepped out of a taxi in Enfield, North London, in July 2007.

Mr Bernard is among Scotland Yard’s most wanted men.

Apparently there are many other non-Thai "scumbags" here in Thailand, commenting right here, on Thai Visa.

I think that you are barred from claiming social security if you are in the slammer.

It hasn't taken them 5 years to find him in Thailand because he hasn't been in Thailand, he was living in Laos for the majority. I met him there a couple of years ago, he'd been there for two years at that point. I assume he thought after all that time it would be safe to move to Thailand.

Thank you for your post.

I apologize for the questions, but they are prompted by your first-hand knowledge of his character and movements. Please feel free to answer any of them or none of them as you see fit.

When you met him in Laos, did he say what he was doing there for all that time? Was he in the capital or living in another city/village in Laos? Did he give you any indication that he was involved in the drug business in London? Did any of his speech, dress, or actions reflect his status as one of Scotland Yard's Most Wanted? Did he say he was British or an Ivorian (as nationals of the Ivory Coast are addressed)?

Wrong; when people get sent to prison their family can claim every benefit going as the main wage earner has been banged up. The latter may well be a murdering, drug dealing scumbag who has probably never earned an honest buck in his adult life, but that's how it works in Britain's nanny state.

I knew there was certain circumstances that he didn't have the freedom to be moving around, I assumed it was visa issues, most people in Laos seemed to not bother extending there visa and end up stuck there. No, of course he didn't appear to be a drug dealing killer or I probably wouldn't have hung around with him. When I met him he was a genuinely friendly guy, perhaps having to stay in Laos all that time changed him.
