[Myanmar] Indian Firm To Revive Burmese Paper Mill

India’s JK Paper has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Burmese government to revive the state-owned Thar Paung Paper and Pulp Mill. JK Paper President A.S. Mehta told The Hindu that the Burmese paper company has an annual pulp production capacity of 70,000 metric tons and paper capacity of 15,000-17,000 tons. “Our plan is to use 10,000-15,000 tons of pulp in Myanmar and ship the rest to India,†he told the newspaper. JK Paper is currently studying the current climate and will prepare a business plan in the new few months.
