Long Stay Visa Medical Certificate Question

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of completing my application to send to the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. In a few days I will be in Thailand for a short stay ( before I send my application in )

My question is ...Can I have my physical and the medical certificate completed in Thailand by a Thai doctor or must I have it done in the USA where the application will be filed?

I did call the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles and couldn't get an answer to the above question.

Many Thanks

I think only the consuate can answer that question, but it wouldn't hut to try. The certificate at a Thai government hospital will be something as 50 baht, so you won't lose a large amount of money if the consulate refuses it.

I was in that exact situation several years ago. I submitted to Los Angeles my application for a non-OA and included a med cert which I had just gotten in Thailand. My application was put on hold until I re-submitted a med cert done by a U. S. doctor, despite the fact that the form was only available in Thai.

Taken from LA website

*7. Four copies of the completed medical certificate form |Download| issued from the country where the application is submitted, showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535) with the name and address of the doctor. The certificate must be not be older than 3 months.

Excuse me, but the OP is in Thailand and wants to send his application to America, is this not illegal?

By reading the first few lines this seems to be the case, or have I read wrong and that the applicant will return to USA to apply.

For many, the good news is: the current medical certificate has been shortened to 5 conditions. Alcoholism has been removed.

I think it would have made more sense to remove Elephantitis and Leprosy and moved Alcoholism to the top of the list.
