August 23, 201213 yr The low gears d1 and d2 dont seem to be working in my automatic honda civic, year 2000 model. Has no power going up hills and doesnt seem to help when change into these gears. Any ideas what this problem is before i visit the mechanic? Thanks Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App
August 24, 201213 yr Does it start in low? Or start in a high gear? How long since the transmission was flushed, the filter cleaned if there is one and the fluid replaced?
August 24, 201213 yr Author Yeah seems to start in low gear and oil and transmission fluids are fine. Transmission was flushed about 20,000 km ago. Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App
August 24, 201213 yr So it doesn't change down on hills? Or the engine has lost all it's mojo? Does the kick down work when overtaking?
August 24, 201213 yr Author Actually havnt tried it downhill yet. The engine still seems powerful enough when leave it in drive but when try go up a steep hill amd change to d1 or d2 its got nothing. Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App

D2 and D1 are meant to go downhill, or uphill if for some reason the engine is rapidly shifting gears up and down.
August 24, 201213 yr What I asked (rephrased) was does the transmission shift down on it's own when you go up hills? When you press the pedal to the floor when overtaking does it shift down? If you put the transmission in D1 and pull out of your drive what happens? Or is it that in D1 on a long hill the engine is running out of puff/revs/??? Petrol or LPG?
August 24, 201213 yr Author Actuallt the gears are numbered 2 and D3. Can drive off in 2 but just doesnt seem to have the power it should for that gear. Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App
August 24, 201213 yr Author It seems to change fine when overtaking or driving on flat surfaces but soon as i try go up a steep hill it barely goes up. Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App
August 24, 201213 yr Author Its fitted with ngv, but doesnt seem to make much of a difference when use either petrol or ngv, bit better with the petrol though Sent from my GT-P1000T using Thaivisa Connect App
August 24, 201213 yr Just to clear a thought in my grey cells, take out the dipstick and smell the oil/fluid on the stick, should smell sweet and not a burnt smell. Also that it is still a nice light pink colour.

August 24, 201213 yr Also that it is still a nice light pink colour. Unless he is using B&M Trick Shift Trans Fluid, then it should be green or blue (can't remember, long time ago)

August 24, 201213 yr Hi, Not sure if this helps or not. A friend of mine had a similar problem with his autobox, It was a GMC truck, but i believe autoboxes are similar in design except for the DSG type. He did a bit of research on the o/c websites & it was correctly diagnosed be 2 solenoids that had malfunctioned. He changed them himself. Have you tried doing a search on the Honda o/c websites? good luck Chris
