Urgent! How Does My Thai Wife Renew A Lost Drivers License?

Featured Replies

Hi,

It is our last day in Thailand and we need to renew my wife's license if possible today. I have tried to search the web but all info is about expats getting a license.

She lives in Sam Phran, Nakhon Pathom. What govt dept do we need to go to and is there one close by. I think there may be an office near Mahidol Uni near Salaya.

What is the process and does it take very long. My wife is not being very helpful with info as it has been left to the last minute and does not want to be stressed out on her last day. It is all my fault of course. LOL.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I should also add she has lost her physical license card. Does this make any difference? I am pretty sure she had a lifetime license.

Mods please move this to the motor forum. I mis read the topic. I could not find the motor forum.

Plenty of threads on the motorforum on replacing lost/stolen cards and renewing DL's.

1. File a report with the police station (near the place of loss if possible)

2. Got to the next Land Transportation Office and apply for a new issue of the driving license showing the report

3. Receive new license

4. Be happy.

Any knowledgeable TV members on this subject out there. I'm sure there are but they are not online at the moment!

Thanks for the replies.

So the process is the same for a Thai national? All threads are regarding expats.

It would be a good idea to take her ID card and also the blue housebook.

If she goes to the place it was issued they may be able to scare up a copy from the database (it worked for me) and the cost including the photo was 205 baht a couple of weeks ago.
