I was just reading last night of how Thailand (and Israel) are allowing teachers to be armed in order to thwart possible terrorists. The threat as I understand it comes from Muslims wanting to start a seperate Muslim state in the south of Thailand.

I'd like to know more about this if anyone cares to share.

There isn't much on this sub-forum about security for teachers in the deep south. There is a lot of information spread throughout thaivisa on the southern conflict, but much of it is in the form of news reports and doesn't give good detailed background information.
