Can anyone reccomend a good hotel, about one thousand baht per night, which is in a good location for sightseeing etc. We will be staying about 2 days. I also need some ideas about what to see and do around Bangkok. Any suggestions would be a great help. Are their any tour operaters which do the river kwai trip ??.

Many thanks,

First I would choose a hotel in the Sukhumvit or Siam area of Bangkok. A hotel in this area would allow you to use the Skytrain (elevated rapid transit system) to get you to many places in Thailand.

There are many hotels in the 750 to 1200 baht range that have private toilets/showers, HW, TV and security boxes for storing valuables. You can Google Bangkok Inn, this is on Sukhumvit Soi 11, also the Fortuna Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 5. The Fortuna Hotel has an "all you can eat" buffet breakfast every morning, it's open to the public @119 baht. On the same soi as the Bangkok Inn is the slightly cheaper President Inn, and the the Business Inn Hotel.

A little bit further out of Bangkok

The ancient city and crocodile farm can be done in a day.

Most topur operators can organise a trip to the Bridge, will be a long day but you might be able to combine it with a trip to the floating market

Hope this helps :D
