Has anyone ever bought or seen somewhere that sells sofa beds in chiang rai? Any good furniture shops around with good range of beds, wardrobes etc? If not any suggestions of places in chiang Mai would be useful too. Thanks!!

Online you could try SB Furniture or Index Living Mall and I think they deliver. Apparently you haven’t found what you are looking for at Robinson so have you tried (Penang Furniture?) the big shop across the highway from Makro?

Welcome back Nikki and good luck with you shopping.thumbsup.gif

Head north on the super-highway, after you pass the PTT garage near the international school slow down, there are a couple of big furniture stores on the left side and another on the other side so you need to u-turn to get to that one.

There's a very good one directly opposite Makro, (am I allowed to say Makro?) anyway opposite Makro, that's on the other side of the road from Makro. 555.

It's called Peking Furniture but the sign is in Thai. they have a large range and the quality seems to be average and above. They will deliver but will charge for the privilege I believe.

I will have to look at the name next time we are at Makro. Peking or Penang, I think it is one of those but not sure. Anyway we both agree on the location.biggrin.png

I recently saw sofa beds in tesco, didnt look at them, sort of glanced, they were about 3000 baht, assuming you have a tesco near you , might be worth a closer look.

If I was pedantic, I'd tell you that the name is Peenang Furniture. But as I'm not, I won't say itwink.png

Truth be told I didn’t remember the name of the place, at all, so asked the wife if she could recall. She wasn’t sure either but guessed it was something like that and I took a stab at spelling, thus the (?).

Obviously you have a better memory than I, and I would never have guessed you were pedantic, more importantly I would not have said so, even if I thought it.wink.png If it turns out you have it wrong, too, then kindly disregard this post.laugh.pngbiggrin.png

I am not pedantic either but if I were I might mention that there is no "Index Living Mall" in Chiang Rai. The place next to Thaweeyont that VF thinks is Index Living Mall (probably because they do carry some Index Living Mall items there) is actually called "Winner furnitures. You can see their catalogue here

http://www.winnerfurnitures.com/

(or by searching google for winner furnitures thailand if link is removed)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, looks like today is going to be a furniture shopping extravaganza...or at least I hope we find a good bed....getting up and down from the mattress on the floor is becoming increasing challenging for me and the bump!! ;-)

Deep box springs, under a deep mattress, sitting on a sturdy frame will make falling in and out of bed much easier with that bump of yours.smile.png

Update on the furniture situation....found a decent bed at Peenang today opposite makro - had to spend some time persuading the shop assistant that we were definitely not going to be purchasing any of the tasteful diamanté studded headboard range (a surprisingly large percent of the beds!!) and wanted something a little more subtle. Got one that has a very comfy backboard to sit up in as I'm sure once the bump is no longer a bump I will not be getting much actual sleep any more ;-) no luck on the sofa bed situation but we didn't look that hard yet, got a bit sidetracked by makro....
