Chiang Mai -Macau- China

Just returned from Macau & China on Air Asia from Macau.

Very good trip, all on time between CH & Macau both,no complaints. From landing at Macau to leaving the airport after immigration and collecting luggage was 10 minutes!

Arranged a China visa before leaving CH (Required if going in to China from Macau).

After 2 days in Macau and a little richer thanks to Sands casino took the Turbojet ferry (cost around 750baht) from Macau to Shenzhen Shekou, journey time 1 hour.Immigration in China took all of 60 seconds!

Crossed over the road from the ferry terminal to the very good new mass transit railway line and 1 hour later in the hotel in the middle of Shenzhen at a cost of 28baht!

Fantastic food, great shopping, slightly cheaper then here.

Two days up country and then returned by the same route to Macau and on to CH,a little richer thanks to the City of Dreams Casino! Although on the return trip it took well over 60 seconds at China immigration.

Excuse my ignorance but what/where is "CH"?

Ah, ok, thanks. Normally see it referred to as CM or CNX.

Sounds like a good trip, might have to do it myself soon.

Yes it does sound like a good trip. But CH is switzerland in my mind.

would it have been a good trip if you hadnt cleared out 2 casinos though?

did you get the visa in chiang mai? easy to get.....and how long does it allow you to be in China?

CH,CNX,CM Chiangmai probably better to avoid confusion?

Total time spent in Casinos was around 20 minutes, totally incidental time killer between venues on the trip but was simply a bonus.

Visa very easy to get in Chiangmai, standard 4 working days or pay extra for express service. Fees between 1100 & 4000?baht depending on nationality. OK for 3 months I believe.

Had to show flight ticket/return,strangely Chiangmai-Macau was acceptable and hotel reservation in China.

Last time I was in Shenzhen I remember it being a toilet of a place

It is not strange Macau is part of china mate...so u entered china :-)

However, Macau like Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region. Being 'part of China,' it is ironic that is easier for a foreigner to enter these parts of China, than it is for a mainland Chinese national

Last time I was in Shenzhen I remember it being a toilet of a place

and Chinese proverb says "Man who walks away from Shenzhen toilet carrying bucket is taking the piss."

Should report that as a crap post! whistling.gif

Ja they are keeping a cap on the Chinese in Macau to control the gambling..... all foreigners with an extra buck is welcome though in keeping Pansy's inheritance intact

As mentioned Macau is an SAR and no visa is required mate.

Only required entering China proper, incidentally about my 20th visit to China over the last 26 years.

BTW, places change and Shenzhen certainly has.

Most of those playing in the Casinos in Macao are mainland Chinese with huge posters on the Shenzhen side offering "pawn" of watches etc through to deeds of your property in exchange for chips, not much of a cap?

They cap the number visiting the amount of money no ;-) after all they are the biggest gamblers around

I just set up a client place where the minimum bet is 30k for blackjack and there is no shortage of people every night losing their cash there

Insane

In my few minutes in the City of Dreams Macau at the Roulette table where I won my pittance the guy sitting in front of me had a 5K+ HKD bet on 23 and it came in,even the staff were stunned, min bet only 50HKD no upper limit from what I could see. Close to 800K baht in one spin of the wheel, amazing! Enough for a retirement visa here! (-:

No idea how much he may have won or lost earlier or later.

Took the staff a couple of minutes to calculate the winnings which is very unusual.

Interesting topic, but what does this have to do with Chiang Mai?

The flight leaves from Chiangmai to the onward destinations would that qualify?

I was talking 30,000 in USD minimum bet and the maximum is 200,000 USD...ja they seem to have fat wallets

What is the minimum bet on the blackjack tables, please.

In macau casino most start at UsD$5 although it is possible to find cheaper stakes at the older casino

The ones with 30k bets are in the VIP areas

Does AirAsia have a special on this?
