What To Use For A Toothache

Featured Replies

Is there anything topical or some sort of local spray to deaden/numb a local area? I've got a dentist appointment for tomorrow, but currently in a lot of pain and paracetamol isn't doing much. Something that would go down and deaden whatever the pain source is would be great.

Oil of clove (on the tooth). It works.

Yep, oil of cloves and a couple of Tramadol, should see you through.

It works for about 20 minutes where by you have to have more and more for It to have any effect at all.

Actually it works well and for hours and another application continues it and I had to use in a situation with no dental care for several months until could fly to Bangkok for treatment (removal at that point).

It never worked when I had an abscess.

I needed antibiotics.

I always use clove oil but if you use it many times on the same tooth it can destroy the nerve.

There is a product for toothache made by Patar Lab Ltd. called M16. Comes in a small (3ml) bottle. Available at all pharmacies cost around 25 Baht.

Contents clove oil, camphor and around 1% Lidocaine. Also contains cotton wool and mini tweezers to pack in a cavity if a filling has come out.

Always kept in our medicine cabinet as the toothache always comes at a time dentists are not available.

Where is this available, in any standard pharmacy? Sounds handy to travel with.
