This statistic confirms that fast domestic internet speeds are available within Thailand.

The technology does in fact exist in Thailand.

For international bandwidth however the following steps are required:

They make a much high margin from the monthly fees if international is choked so just forget about it being fixed because it is fixed and that is the problem - it was never broken.

Exactly what RKASA is trying to say, I have no idea.

.

Your only going to get as much as they are willing to pay for. It is not broken, the deal is fixed. Thai ISP's provide a Thai internet and the WWW is not a real concern to them as long as they can sell monthly packages. Less international bandwidth expense makes them more money because it cost money. Tech is not the issue - follow the money. What you want or think Thailand needs has nothing to do with right wrong or even could be - follow the money - if more bandwidth was necessary for more profit you would have more.

Hi internetters , BP has today an article on internet speeds http://www.bangkokpost.com/tech/computer/315205/not-up-to-speed

in it states that on average the actual speed in Thailand is 70% of promised locally and 30-60% speed for international.

Well I would love to have this 70% but, I only get at the best of times about 30% of my contract promised speeds. Lately it has been worse even.

Now I have a question for computer literate people.

I have contract with TOT for a 9M download and 1M upload speed for 900 odd Bahts; they sold me this package with the promise that it would be better for international services as the cheapy ones.

If I look at the setting of my ADSL router I read

This information reflects the current status of your DSL connection.

Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps): 512 Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 4096 LAN IP Address:

these settings seems to be fixed, by TOT? as I cannot change it.

the settings look to me to reflect a download speed of 4M en upload of 0.5 M ; correct ???

So it my conclusion right that TOT is already at the settings of my ADSL router, restricting my internet speed to only 50%??? , let alone the concurrent number of users of our lines. ??

Please help me out as I am not too computer literate and like to have a technical sound story when I do file a complaint.

Correct, your router is only connecting at 4 mbits so that is the max traffic that can pass through it.
