We have been using TOT for the past couple of months. It's was a little patchy but bearable. Speed was less than 2mb for B500 a month.

About 3 weeks ago it stopped completely. It took 8 days and hours on phone before a technician came over. The next day it stopped again and took another two days to fix.

It was good for a week, but stopped again on Mon. Yesterday the technician came round then left without saying anything. He told his manager we asked him to leave because we were on our way out - a complete lie.

Anybody else have similair experience with tot?

yes, they really suck. I'm on a 10gb plan whick is about 950 baht a month. I never get near that, oh forgive me, for the first week it worked great, but after that, no. I go to the office and occasionally and have the reset the connection, which help for about a week.

In the condo that I live in, in Banchang, TOT is the only game.

I had real problems with them for years and the problem we had is that we had no choice as at the time there was no other option. Recently I have had the great pleasure of telling TOT to disconnect our service as AIS airnet started in our area and now getting 7m up and 7m down. Only was able to get 1meg with TOT. Best of luck with TOt but you will not get any decent service from them.

... in Banchang, TOT is the only game.

Unfortunately this problem repeats itself across many areas of Thailand where only one service provider is available....or should I say, no other service providers are allowed into the area/moobaan/building......a land of little telecommunication kingdoms. And sure, there are many areas where service providers other than the semi-govt telecommunications companies like TOT just don't want to make an investment in due to various factors such as population, income of the population, cost to install, etc. But sometimes it's simply because a certain company has service rights to an area pretty much designated to them only and it's too hard (and expensive) for another company to come in. But fortunately, that is slowly changing as better and faster service is demanded---not that most Thai's really demand anything...doesn't seem to be in their nature.

I live in western Bangkok and up until Jun 11 when True installed DOCSIS/cable internet in my moobaan, which I immediately switched to, my choices for internet and landline service were TOT, TOT, and TOT at a max speed of 6Mb. Well, that's a little bit of a white lie (which are OK in Thailand) because I could get JINET ADSL internet but it was pricey and provided over TOT lines/DSLAM.
