You may also be able to top up using an ATM if you have a local bank account. I top up my AIS account via Bangkok Bank ATM's; very convenient.

TOT 3G pre-paid doesn't list any ATM options on their website - not sure if I ever seen them on my BBL ATM screen?

Anyway, there is a short video in the link I provided which illustrates how to top up - on-line, if you have a voucher.

To me it looks like you can get a card from TOT, 7/11 or give your number at 7/11 and add value?

Looks like they have an eservice platform? http://prepaid.tot3g.net/SMSLogin.aspx

How is the service?

What plan are you using?

The speed is fast when it works...1300 to 2000 bkps.

The problem is that no one in the office can show you how to re-load the sim. They just say phone the call centre, well the idiot moron at the call centre told me it was an AiS sim card. When I asked to speak with his supervisor he just said I will call you tomorrow at 8AM and hung up. I have spoken with some other people re the TOT call centre and they all say that its one big joke.

If this post saves another member from dealing with idiots well that is good.

The internet system in Thailand is like turning the clock back 10 years, even the internet in Cambodia is 100 times better than here and a lot cheaper. I was using 3G in Cambodia 3 years ago it cost $20. a month for data limit of 12G and the fastest internet I have used any where.

I re loaded the sim by dialing *1901# call then put pin number & call again. To do this you must take the sim out of the computer & put it into your phone.

The plan is called TOT prepaid 3G

Thank you everyone for your help.

I think you can get a pre-paid refill card from a TOT Shop, not sure where those are, or 7/11, or, and I see now it does say an ATM. Then you can use USSD, IVR or the internet to enter the PIN. Or you can go to any 7/11, give the number associated with your SIM, hand over cash and they will add the value to your SIM.

Do you know how much you are paying? Per MB? Per minute? Per month? I only ask as there may be more cost-effective alternatives.

TOT and CAT are privatized descendants of state-owned monopolies, and as such are not entirely consumer savvy organizations.

Hi All

Whilst I'm not going to attempt to address the topping up of the the pre-pay sim I would like to comment on the TOT staff and lack of service knowledge and customer care ability at the TOT Building Pattaya Klang. Firstly let me explain that I also use the 3G SVC provided by TOT here in Pattaya. April 2012 my wife and I visited the TOT centre and signed up and paid for a 3G sim with Unlimited package/offer. This had to be in my thai wifes name as I did not have my passport on me. Sim and Internet service worked a treat with 2Mbps/sec up and down. A month later I returned to pay the first bill approx 900 baht and also have the account changed into my name. ( Brought all the required documentation with me )

I completed some forms, provided the relevant paperwork that was required..and paid approx another 200 baht for this change. The completed paperwork was faxed to BKK Head office and I was told that the next bill would be in my name.. Happy Days..... !!! Ha Ha was I wrong to expect that to be the case ?? Next bill arrived and to my amazement it was still in my wife's name. Off I went to pay the months bill and find out why the account changes had not been implemented. ?? I brought my copy of the signed docs and receipts from last month. When the CSR eventually figured out what I was talking about she made calls to BKK head office.. Their answer was... We Never received the change request or any faxes ????? All in all.. it took another 2 months and many many snotty mails and phone calls from myself to the head office in BKK before the account was transferred to my name. The girls/csr's in the Pattaya office were absolutely useless and did not actually try and resolve the issue for me.

2nd major upset was when I completely lost the 3G radio service at my apartment.. ( No signal bars or TH-ACT 1900 svc ). I confirmed that the sim, phone and svc was working 100% by bringing same to the TOT office, which is served by a different Base Station.I showed this to the CSR. I told the CSR that the svc did not work at my apartment ( where it had previously worked for months, with full strength radio reception ( -40Dbm )). I also explained that my apartment was served by a different Base station and that the most probable cause was a failure of that base station ie: power off etc or a sector failure in my direction.. When I finished explaining the problem and most likely cause the CSR asked for my phone.. removed the back cover and said.. IT MUST BE THE SIM !!! I'LL HAVE IT REPLACED !!!!.. Well I nearly hit the Roof !! What part of the last 10 minutes explanation did you not understand ??? It F****** Works fine here.. but not at my address. A base station or sector of is down as I have no TH_ACT 1900 RF Signal. I told her to log a call with their Network Department and that I would follow this up further with direct communications with BKK.. After approx 2 weeks and many many phone calls and pictures and gps co-ords of the base station that served me... my service was restored with numerous apologies from TOT ??? Now was I the only customer on this Sector / Basestation.. ?? I seriously doubt it.. Whilst the 3G service is good when its operational.. the customer care and after sale service is absolutely appalling. I have attached a pic of the engineers actually restoring the service.. My advice Steer clear of TOT if you want good customer care with any questions or svc affecting problems that you may have...

Good luck if you go down this route..smile.png

No I dont know, I have asked the staff at the TOT office and also their call centre. No one can answer my question.

When this 300B credit runs out it will be bye bye TOT, they are a useless piece of crap.

What a sad post, you need to relax more or you'll die from a heart attack before you're much older, these things happen here so get used to them, this is not "back home".

1st time in about a year since i have seen the TOT website.. its better than it used to be.. 7/11 counter service looks favourite... http://www.tot3g.net/InfoPrePaid.aspx

With an understanding of your requirements, usage, budget, equipment forum members might be able to suggest alternative service providers and specific plans. Normally, TOT 3G, from TOT and not one of the MVNOs, would be at the bottom of most recommended lists, perhaps for reasons you've been able to discern?

Doesn't appear 'sad' to me, but reasonably informative.

Did you have to add that has to do with TOT 3G?

Thanks to the poster for the information that there is a 3G service in Pattaya. I had no idea. Will look for a coverage map.

Hi All

---- [snipped for brevity] ----

The completed paperwork was faxed to BKK Head office and I was told that the next bill would be in my name.. Happy Days..... !!! ..... (snip) When the CSR eventually figured out what I was talking about she made calls to BKK head office.. Their answer was... We Never received the change request or any faxes ?????

(snip)

One unfortunate fact about faxes, they don't always go through, even when the machine on the sending end says "sent successfully", the receiving machine sometimes hasn't received the fax. It's unfortunate, and it's a relatively high failure rate. emails are much more reliable. Surprising they don't scan the docs, email or put the data into the account records. But such is the nature of technology implementation.

Are you sure of the privatized part? I think CAT still have the sings at the office "Please be polite, these are government workers.."

Anyway I have got an excellent service when dealing with CAT Phuket. That's one of the main reason I wish to keep them as my ISP. This might vary between provinces.

At some point my closes CAT CMDA basestation had overheating and other problems. I did call them quite frequently when the problems occurred. They sent their men to fix. At some point when we had an power cut in this area.. CAT office called to me and informed of the situation.. I suppose they new that I would have called them otherwise :)

Are you sure of the privatized part?

Evidently not. I thought they were privatized after the 2006 Coup, but was mistaken.

"With 100 percent stake of its share capital held by the Ministry of Finance, CAT still maintains the status of a state-owned enterprise."
