If I read the info on this downloadable system, with this installed on my computer it gives me a wi fi hotspot at home to which I can then connect my kindle. Since it is available as a free download,it seems to me to be too good to be true, since the alternative would be buying a router.

Does anyone have any experience of it?

You can use it to share your wifi/lan connection without the need of buying another card or router.

With he free version it won't work for pppoe authenticated hotspots (haven't tried the paid version but they say it supports pppoe)

Just install a wireless router otherwise you always need to switch on your PC to read your kindle - not useful in my opinion.

A wireless router doesn't cost you an arm and a leg....

I bought a wireless router and it was just over 1000 bath, no not the end of the world.

Why do you think he need to have wireless on to read a kindle? Not necessary, only when downloading books/magazines you need the i-net.

I use my router mostly for my smart phone and also for my kindle now and again.

I use Connectify happily with a USB Wifi device sharing my LAN to internet.

My PC is on all day serving movies etc., so my daughter can use the WiFi on her iPhone 4S.
