Politicians must give up business interest: Thaksin Shinawatra

New Delhi - Former Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said on Friday that the future of India and South East Asia relations will be bright and prosperous. He was speaking on the topic - Towards Closer Ties: The Future Of South East Asia And India Relations. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Shinawatra said that common historical, cultural and linguistic roots of the two regions will help in boosting the ties in the future as well.

Shinawatra also said that geographical proximity and accessibility will also be an important factor in taking the relations of the two regions forward. Shinawatra said that both the regions have laid strong foundation for their and what state government of the two sides now needs to do is to keep encouraging the people to move on the same path.

The former Thai PM also hoped that Summits like the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit will help in improving ties between the two regions. Later replying to questions, Shinawatra said that one must give up his business interests before entering politics.

With his Ample Rich shenanigans, we also know that he never gave up his business interests when he was a politician.

His speech was intended for others to follow, but didn't apply to himself.
