Where To Store A Motorbike?

Hi folks

I'll probably not be staying on once my contract is up at my apartment, instead I'm going to travel a bit and leave some stuff with my friends but unfortunately they can't look after the motorbike. After a while I'll probably get a new place to stay. So I need to store the bike in the meantime.

I'm not sure how long I'll be taking time out to travel. I realise there's probably lots of folks here who would think travelling on the bike is the solution but I actually want to travel by bus and train and not be limited by having a bike with me all the time. It's just a 100cc Honda anyway.

So I could be looking to store it from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. I know of bangkokselfstorage dot com but I'm not sure they take bikes, I'll probably contact them to find out but even so I just wonder if there are alternatives that anyone on this forum might know of, as cheap as possible of course, that would point me in the right direction.

I did a search of this forum and nothing relevant came up.

Any ideas?

Sorry, I'm in BKK so anywhere around the city would be ok, though north BKK would be preferable. It's all at the ideas stage at the moment.

I think i would either park it outside BigC,

or lend it out to the neighbor for 500/month, or for free

Well I did actually think about parking it by a 7/11 if it were just for one night. A Big C seems like a good idea for a day but once it closes, especially if it's there for a few days I imagine someone would... notice it.

You'd think there'd be some place to leave them in a country so full of them. I know if you send a bike on a train the station will keep it for a day but charge you if you don't go and pick it up at the required time.

Perhaps there's a gap in the market for motorbike storage facilities? Not that I'm saying there'd be an avalanche of business, or that it would be profitable in terms of space vs net profit. I guess that's the answer to my own OP as far as any specialist service would be concerned, but I was thinking (hoping) maybe some kind of garage or something might offer a service like this.

There are monthly rates for every big parking lot. Just check one near you. Sime big malls also have monthly rates i remember. Or the best negotiate with your current apartment for 500 thb to leave your bike at their parking lot.

Besides, it is train or bus that limits you while travelling and all their schedules and departure times.

A bike always makes you free to go anywhere anytime.

Ok loserlazer that's an interesting idea, that might be worth trying. I imagine I'll get looked at with suspicion though!

I know in Chiang Mai there is free parking for motorbikes. I had had mine there for up to 2 months without a problem. but it was out in the sun.

In Chiang Mai also there are many businesses near the bus station that stores bikes for days. weeks, months, But 1 time mine was knocked over, no damage really but got dirty. I know Pattaya has this too by their b us station.

I know a few dealers where I serviced my bikes also would hold them for me for a few months times.

Chaing Mai also has a few independant storage places that will hold your bike and deliver it back to you when you return. They keep it clean and start it weekly, but those cost slightly more.

Hotel car parks is the way to go!

The one I know is ok is on Sukhumvit soi 11, its the Ambassador hotel/ villa supermarket car park. It's open 24hours with security. There must be at least 50 bikes there gathering dust. I have left my bike there for a few days at a time with no problems. It's a free car park so no fees, maybe there's a hotel near you?
