My wife (Lao national) handed our spouse visa application and all supporting documents into the Embassy in Bangkok on the 27th of January. It should be straightforward as we're married in the UK and Lao, and she's already been here on a visitor visa and honoured it. Plus when she went for the TB test they also gave her a pregnancy test and provided a document to prove it. We were told that if they wanted to give her a short interview that they'd be in touch in 2 weeks but if a long interview is needed we could wait upto 14 weeks. If we do have to wait the 14 weeks she'll be too pregnant to fly (7 months, I believe that you can't fly after this. Anyone know for sure?)

So

It's now over two weeks by a few days and we haven't heard a thing. Would it be a good idea to ring them yet? Any tips on who to ask for or how to get through successfully?

Thanks again in advance

Personally I would ring them come mid week. I mean two weeks has just passed and something may be on its way to you but ring them in a day or two- whats the worst they can say - call back in a weeK?

Hope you hear from them soon

I'd ring them. It won't harm.

Scouse.

Ditto definately phone them. This is what I had to do - the mail sent from Thailand to the UK to inform us of the date (as I gave my address) came about 4 weeks or more after applications. Which is pathetic considering the average mail from Laos to the UK currently takes the maximum of 1 week.

Thanks for the replies peeps.

The mail was quite slow and she recieved a letter today saying she should go to the embassy (without appointment) at a certain time on Mon,weds or thursday.

I'm well chuffed as we were getting worried.

Although on the letter it states that she should take all supporting documents, we've already provided/handed in everything. What more could they want?

Thanks again

Congrats, Wayner, sounds like she is getting short interview treatment.

As for the documents, don't worry. This is a standard form letter, so if you have already submitted everything there is no need for anymore.
