i had a dashboard cam, so i had the number plate. had informed the insurance, police and given the video files to them. im really dazed and clueless, this is my first accident, what should i be expecting? would my insurance premium goes up?

is hit and run a criminal offence here? would i need to attend court as a witness or something?

I think your insurance company is your best advocate. They have to pay for your damage, and the only place they can recoup what they pay out is from the perpetrator.

Exactly as mogandave has said. The company will try to recoup the money from the perp, nothing for you to worry about.

And no, I don't think police will pursue him not stopping at the scene of an accident, so I would be extremely surprised if there was a courtcase about this. As far as the police is concerned the case is handled since the insurance company has all information and evidence they need.

If you hang back 4-6ft from the white line to allow motorbikes to get in front. It won't happen again?

Quite often there are even 2 white lines, the first one for the cars to wait and the second one, closer to the lights, for the motorbikes to wait.

I intentionally park as close to the white line as possible, sometimes drive over it... Bloody motorbikes!!

To answer the OP, yes, causing damage and not stopping at the scene of an accident is a criminal offense and entails a presumption of fault according to section 78 of the Land Traffic Act (1979).

I guess that is the good answer for all those who maintain over here that in case of accident, you better escape the scene...

But you knock moto riders off when you floor it on green?

And that is the reason why driving in the city is not driving on a circuit.... What need to "floor it" to get faster to another congestion spot?

If you make it to the next lights quicker ya might not be sat at them waiting 5 minutes for a green?

And if I get into an accident I lose far more than those 5 minutes. ^_^

i enjoy watching Russian Red Light Roulette in Thailand. People use the Count Down to the green light so they can jump it 3 seconds and be in the middle of the intersection when the light changes green and then coming the other way is the Thai National Sport of running red lights. You get to see some really interesting crash scenes.

To the OP - whats the latest news, are the police / insurance doing anything with your video of the event?
