Thai Inventions In The Last 15 Years

Recommended Posts

Thailand has done very well for itself in the last 15 years (since i've been visiting/living), and as much as people like to knock Thaksin and his ilk they certainly opened up Thailand to the rest of the world for the benefit of Thai people and their standard of life.

The main reason in my opinion as to why Thailand is doing so well other then capitalist political decisions is because western nation governments have sold their working classes out for the sake of profit for the few globalists, thus friendly, low tax, low wage nations with a decent infrastructure such as Thailand have done remarkably well.

Now other then offering low wages what has Thailand invented for the benefit of the planet in this period, as with this rise in peoples standard of living has grown a monster of arrogance amongst it under 40s, something which i don't see as much in the many countries i work in each year, i ask maybe out of an attempt to be patronising but also out of curiosity/hope that this arrogance isn't derived purely from an ability to pretend one is wealthy.

Protecting and enforcing life sciences inventions in Thailand

One of the goals of Thailand’s National Biotechnology Policy Framework (2004-2009)

was to establish more than 100 new biotech companies within five years.

Today there are approximately 165 biotech companies, of which over 80 were created between 2000 and 2009.

You think Thailand is doing well. We'll see.

The development in capitalism is a benefit, but it only benefits the few. Not only may it not make the average Thai better off, it may make them worse off. As in other "developing" countries, Thailand has its upper class and it has its slums. With those in government up to their eyeballs in the financial benefits of new growth, most of the prosperity will never reach the masses.

This is no different from China or Brazil or Mexico or India or any other such country. The system is designed to pass the money to the few in power and keep the masses in poverty and under control.

A few posters on Thai Visa are the only people in the world who don't think Thailand is doing well. Look at the list of new manufacturing facilities opened and scheduled to be opened from Japan, Germany and the USA in Thailand. The President of the US and Premier of China both came to Thailand for flirt with Yingluck in the same week. Sheeesh!biggrin.png Just because you didn't move your money here like us smart expats did 10 years ago don't give you reason to cry now.

There are still some space left for you. Get in while there is still time and stop trying to convince people to stay home. You are only going to lose more money.

How many college graduates in Thailand last year? You think only a few people in China have money? Oh come on now. When was the last time you were in Macao or Hong Kong. You are just being silly.biggrin.png

Thailand's # one in cloning people.

Here's the same person, on one photo with a wig and make-up, on the other one what he//she looks like in reality.

And what is their average salary? What earth shaking things are they accomplishing without the influx of foreign technology and investment?

Not silly at all. You can't compare Hong Kong. It broke away from China 100 years ago and embraced capitalism for the masses.

It's only a tiny percentage of China's huge population which benefits from any capitalism. The huge masses are still in poverty, just like in Thailand.

Wishful thinking won't change it.

Such cynicism, Thailand invented one of the greatest money making machines of all time, cheap to manufacture, plus it is the gift that just keeps on giving, how could anyone ignore this enhancement to humanity, but so often the obvious is right under your nose. Thailand invented and perfected through rigorous trials...the girlfriend experience.

For those that snub their noses, seriuosly think it through.

I'm not sure you can call Thailand's economy 'capitalist' at all. There is no other country with a government that's more protectionist and interventionist on behalf of its own elite. Free market and free enterprise are severely restricted, and heavy tarrifs on many imports. That's why here is by far not the same variety of consumer and other products as we know in the west. Foreigners can't own real estate, and opening a business is complicated. Only 4% of the workforce are unionized, and almost all of the unions are in state enterprises or services. Have you ever heard or read of a strike in Thailand? Can't remember a single one myself. That's all not the hallmarks of capitalism, but fascism. I don't mean it derogatory, the capital simply loves fascism.

Bring unions into thailand and it is finished.....Investors will exit immediately....the only thing left for thais is the fact they are not Unionised.

Investment will move to a country with no unions.....example America, Australia, UK all unionised....and not doing so well except for australia, who will implode as the unions now have full control of the elected government there......RIP Aussies.

The thread title is "Thai inventions in the last 15 years".

So far the only invention that is included in this thread which qualifies is the guy who stuck a snorkel in the exhaust of his motorbike during the floods.

Are there any more?

Located in Bangkok, Thailand, the MK Restaurant is about to shift hospitality services to a new level by "hiring" robotic waiters.

The MK Robot Project, initiated by Bangkok University, involves the use of robotic waiters that will take orders and deliver meals.

The team won a cash prize of 200,000 baht and will represent Thailand at the World Robocup Soccer Humanoid League 2013 in Osaka, Japan, next year. Many of the inventions created by Thai students could support the country's agricultural development, like a cassava stem cutting machine; a plant pot moulding device; a lump rubber collecting device; a papaya grating machine; and a machine to cut pineapple leaves.

The five inventions by Thais that won gold medals included a mobile phone battery charger by hula hoop, a fly trap using water as an eliminator, a three-in-one power generator, a water garbage collector using solar energy and a parkia speciosa hassk flower pollination device.

A nice bit of information gathering (and interesting in itself) but I would suggest does not really qualify to answer the Original Posters question wink.png
