Riders End Of Year / Start Of Year Adventure Ride

Featured Replies

For any of your riders out there who want to do a loosely organized ride over the New Years holiday period, We will be doing a Mae Hong Son extended loop ride.

We will head out Monday December 31st from the usual Mae Hia / Hang Dong PTT and head north to Pai for a lunch break. Then on to Mae Hong Son for the night. A wonderful unforgetable side ride to the Burma boarder for those who still feel like riding more.

Next day down throught the Burmese refuge camps to Mae Sot and up to the Dam for the night.

Wednesday morning will be back to Chaing Mai on back roads

Any bike type or size is welcome.

If you like you can cut the trip short if you wish

For more details please let me know

Sounds like a good way to start the year. Details appreciated.

For me with work I will have to cut my ride short and only do the over night ride. then back the next day

My wife and I will be taking a Honda auto scooter as well as another I know who is going along.

Nothing special and we will be staying down near the lake, and up the next morning and riding on . . .

Just nice to have a few along to share the ride and stories

Again, any welcome to join in

So, you are organising a ride that you are not going to participate fully in. Strange. Mind you, I would'nt like to ride an auto scooter back from Mae Sot in a day either so I can't say I blame you...... ;)

Jeff, I've just done that run ... as far as Pang Mapha, and the road is absolutely crap. Potholes galore and even if repaired, the road is possibly the worst I've driven on in Th. [22,000 k'ms in past 16 months!]

If you do go, may I suggest an overnight stay at Cave Lodge Pang Mapha, and visit the Caves upon dusk. Well worth the experience!

Sounds like a good way to start the year. Details appreciated.

What? I thought he was pretty detailed. OK, he didn't say what time the ride would head out from Mae Hia, but other than that.... what's missing?

Well, a starting time is always good. biggrin.png Wouldn't hurt to have an idea of places to stay for the night. Little things like those.

Those who are really going can contact me or PM me

Seems most want about a 9 or 9:30 start time

Hotel is up to you and your budget. I stay at a 600 Bt guest house by the lake, but also those who are going have already talked about that

As I said from the start, it is loosely orginized and thouse who are going are helping make the plans
