Ok, so my CAT CDMA 3g deal seems to not be working anymore as of last week, so I decided to go with True, and got their 3g+ dongle and sim from the local 7-11, and wonder if anyone can lend a hand:

First problem: the instructions say that after installing the software for the dongle, you can register your sim through your computer by going to truemove-h/mylife, but it won't connect to any webpages (i didn't expect to go to other stuff, but assumed it could go to the activation webpage at least). Ok, no worries, put the sim in a phone and activated via sms. Chose the 899 postpaid, got a text to confirm my selection, then a text saying I was now activated and subscribed to the 899 postpaid package, and could start using it as of ten minutes ago (ten minutes before having received that text).

Still no connection to true pages, or anything else. Called true, they said they'd call back about it (not holding my breath). I found a thread where a guy said he needed 900 baht stored on the sim before it would work, so I went to load some money on it at 711, and the online load thing wont load this number.

Not sure what else to try to get this thing working. Ideas? What did I do wrong?

Thanks!

What do you get when dialling *900#

Some dongle software allows to send those codes (ussd). If not put sim in regular phone. Wait for sms which will tell you what package you have and how many mb left.

If you click on connect in your dongle software, does it actually goes online?

It would say it was connected, but no data was being exchanged.

Finally got it working: in options changed the network selection to GSM+ only - that got it working for now. Too bad that's just edge speed though.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...got it: I can leave it on the fast network (WCDMA only), but in general>connection type, it needs to be set to RAS modem, not NDIS. Now runs nice and fast. Cheers,
