I ask myself that quite regularly, especially when I see these fantastic rural shots.

Here we are in Phuket. It's high season. The road from Karon beach to Patong beach is full of tourists wobbling about on bikes or crammed into minivans and tuk-tuks. The local administration should be ensuring that everyone has a lovely time on Phuket... and what do we get? Roadworks! This road has been in a sh1tty state all year and when do they decide to fix it? Now. Jesus wept.

Lots of new sections being redone even with drainage and sidewalks! Next year it should be all tarmac!
