If single and rent, you figure B10-20K is about minimum for rent in Bangkok. Then B1K a day spending is doable, and B800K in the bank for visa. -

Is Japanese Food in Bangkok Just a Hustle to Squeeze More Money Out of People?
Ah, Susan, ever the tireless content drivel machine, tirelessly churning out whatever half-baked nonsense it takes to hit that magic 200-post daily target. It’s almost impressive, if only a shred of insight ever managed to sneak its way in. But alas, depth and substance remain as elusive as ever for you. Perhaps it’s best you stick to subjects more within your grasp; budget night markets, discount hotels, and whatever other penny-pinching wisdom you’re so eager to share. Or at the very least, limit yourself to topics that require about as much intellectual depth as your usual contributions. Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe, just maybe, you’re a little too obsessed with trying to grab some attention on AN? -

Tips for first time tourists, especially western teenage girls
Have any drinks straight out of a can or bottle. Mixed drinks can be lethal, as Laos backpackers found out recently. SIM cards are available at most airports. Taxi services from airports have fixed prices at their airport offices. Transport between Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang is free, aircon bus. Just show ongoing ticket to other destinations. Only take transport that has three or four wheels. Do not rent a scooter. Always ask the price of any taxi, baht bus or tuk-tuk before getting in. Do not eat street food that is not cooked in front of you. Pedestrian crossings should only be trusted when they have traffic lights. Forget the high heels, Thai pavements can be quite uneven. Comfortable sneakers. Do not flash large amounts of cash. Dress conservatively when visiting temples. -
