Two Russians report assault and armed robbery in South Pattaya

russia-22.jpg

PATTAYA:--Two Female Russian Tourists reported an armed robbery and assault after they were abducted at gunpoint by three Thai men in a pick-up on the Pratamnuk Hill.

The alleged crime was reported on 26th December but is thought to have occurred early on Christmas Day.

Miss Maria Kuznetsova aged 30 and Miss Anastasia Ilyukhina aged 31 were walking back to their Hotel after spending the night on Walking Street. Their hotel is situated on the Pratamnuk Hill in Soi 4 and on the way back they decided to take a short-cut through the recreation area on the Hill. A pick-up containing three men, came up beside them and two of the occupants approached the woman, one was holding a knife, the other was holding a gun. The pair screamed for help but were reportedly struck across the face and forced into the pick-up.

They were taken to a remote location, which Police suspect is the Huay Yai area. At first they were relieved of their cash and valuables and were then told, at gunpoint, to undress. The pair complied and were then allegedly sexually assaulted by the three men before being left at the remote location.

Sorry for the two Russian ladies.

Actually with all the booze, drugs and opportunistic type predators I'm suprised that there is not more crime in Pattaya...

Posted

Sorry for this...and understand wanting to become "clean" again but surely any woman in this situation knows that if they really want to find the perpetrator of such a crime, they have the best evidence on their person (and not just that stuff, but skin, hair, saliva, etc) and that delaying reporting and taking a shower is going to make the police task much more difficult.

Maybe you're not thinking quite so logically after being abducted and sexually assaulted at knife / gun point ???

The standard of reporting just hit a new low with alleged victims identified etc.

An Invesigators nightmare on an alleged serious crime such as this.

Glad my field work is not here in Thailand particularly Pattaya. But I have to ask , do some of these Tourists read about precautions ??? would they do the same actions at home-----------doubt it.

If this is factual I Hope the perps are caught a s a p

I can't imagine what it must be like so their action is certainly understandable.

Sad story, police should really do a better job of advertising the safery zone. A good idea might be to hand out leaflets at the airport with a map of pattaya and detailed zoning of the current safery zone and make it clear that everything outside the zone is a no go coffee1.gif

Another case for the dire need for TAXI METERS in Pattaya. Door to door service. Using meters. Like in Bangkok.

Even if they caught the rapists, which they won't, how can tourists stick around to pursue justice?

Two Russian Ladies Robbed And Raped In Pattaya

PATTAYA:--After spending Christmas Eve on Walking Street, two Russian women were walking back to their Pratumnak Hill hotel in the early morning hours, but were forced at gunpoint into a pickup truck by three Thai men. The men robbed and raped the women in a forested area in Huay Yai and left them there.

PATTAYA – December 26, 2012 [PDN]; a Russian interpreter revealed to the reporter that two Russian women were raped by three men at 5 a.m. on December 25, 2012. The crime report was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Patsa Dechparkkul, investigation officer of Pattaya police station, who is assigned to the case.

The victims were identified as Ms. Maria, age 30; and Ms. Anastasis, age 31; both Russians. Through the interpreter, the ladies described what happened.

The two ladies and another Russian friend had been enjoying the evening on Walking Street road, and they later walked to the port bridge of Laem Balihai to see the scenery. After they were finished looking at the scenery, they began walking back to their hotels.

The three ladies walked along the route of the bridge of Laem Balihai, and one lady then went to where she was staying at the Hiso Hotel near the bridge.

The other two ladies were staying at the Pattaya Hill hotel at Phratamnak Soi 4. So they decided to walk through the public park on the hill.

We wouldnt want to hurt the IMAGE of Pattaya, now would we? If there were only Safe Zones in Pattaya, that would mean that everything else in the city was not safe. The whole idea of a safe zone is kinda stupid.

Posted

From the report. " because the crime was committed against tourists and harms the image of Pattaya" Is this the only reason that they will try to catch the perps because it harms the image of Pattaya. What about the poor women?

It is time for ALL countries to warn folk that LOS may not be all it seems regarding the land of smiles in certain locations.

Seems a little overkill to me...maybe instead all countries should warn their citizens that crime occurs in all countries and to take common sense precautions when traveling abroad. (This would include maybe for women not walking home from a nite of drinking at 5 a.m. )

Nonsense. Farangs read the brochures at home and think of their dream holiday. The Land of Smiles. Now what does that tell you and me. Well it would tell me to get away from my homelands crap for a few weeks of not dealing with crap. The truth is that there is the same crap here and folk should not come to LOS without realizing that the risks are the same.

If like me you read every day stuff regarding Thai holiday destinations you will understand the place is a minefield and so innocent folk should be made aware. .

Thank you! Isn't that what I said...that people should be made aware that crime (or crap as you put it) occurs everywhere, even in tropical paradise destinations shown in the tourist brochures and that common sense precautions need to be observed at all times.

Of course, in this unfortunate case, excessive drinking may have been involved and therefore the ability to make good decisions may have been impaired.

Horrible crime and I hope the BIB catch the assailants ASAP.

Having said that, I find it disgraceful that P1 has included the full names plus passport details of the 2 victims.

Unbelievable and yet another new low for the Pattaya English-speaking press - makes you wonder how much lower P1 and their ilk will stoop to chase advertising and traffic.

The same photos were published in two Russian newspapers too.

Well done chaps...none of TV finest have suggested the two Russian ladies concerned were in fact hookers working on walking street....but nice to see the high standard of professianal reporting/copy coming out of P1 as always...keep it up...booker prize coming to you shortly...whistling.gif

Are you kidding? Look were the ladies were picked up by the criminals, 100 yards from the Tourist Police office, and right in front of the police booth on top of the hill. In the parks around the hill happen my crimes, and I even found a video of a man having a blowjob by a Katoy in broad daylight on youporn. Recognized the location because I run round the hill many times. The police doesn't give a crap, there is no money in it. What would be needed is constant police presence in those parks, or at least frequent patrols to scare the scum off.

Errrrr..... good for you.

Considering the high HIV and STD rate among Thais, especially in Pattaya and sex workers, I hope the girls don't have future nightmares to deal with. Can't imagine the horror.

Investigation into Russian assault and robbery case continues

russian-1.jpg

PATTAYA:--A pick-up has been seized and four men are currently undergoing DNA testing as the investigation into the recent case of two Russian female tourists, who were abducted and then sexually assaulted in a remote area in the nearby Hua Yai area earlier this week, continues.

Both victims are desperate to return to Russia and have books flights to return on 4th January after details of the case reached the Russian press. For this reason local reporters are now banned from filming any part of the investigation and must rely on “sources” for their information.

The four men currently under detention by Tourist Police were known to have been interrogated for 3 hours before being sent for DNA tests.
