Indian Touch, also across from Nova Platinum Hotel, is also good. A little high but does quite a business which means of course, it's real Indian food. Always friendly etc.. Not for the cheap charlies but if you can afford and appreciate a decent meal, give it a try. I've never seen the one mentioned by this poster and I've been in that area both on foot and as I say, dining. Strange.

Indian Rasoi is very, very close to Indian Touch on the same side of the street a tad further towards Jomtien. BOTH places have been there for years now. Years ago I used to be a regular at Indian Touch but then my go to place changed (as it tends to do) and I haven't been back since, so I can't comment on the current food vs. Indian Rasoi. The price points are similar. Moderate  level. Perhaps you were misled by the 100 baht dal. That's a pulse dish with no meat. I'd say try  both.

Steak and Company, Soi Lengkee, has daily specials for the "early birds" before 5 P.M.

Not a gimmick. These are regular menu items with the same sides and sauces offers included, but at a discount.

Okay, so you mean after the turn off(left) which cuts through to the overpass and onward you go to Jomtien?

As for the Greek and Israeli joints, thanks for the effort but once again, the google map isn't clear enough. I'll go over there today and look for them as I have some free time. It'll be daylight and not so many drunks around so perhaps I'll get "lucky".

I don't think so.

Try this.

Go to Indian Touch.

Now WALK in the direction of Jomtien from there on the same road on the same side of the street.

Estimated arrival time to Indian Rasoi -- 5 to 10 SECONDS

I still don't know either mate. How can it be "parallel" to the "Central Pattaya Beach Mall" when there is no such mall? Does he mean Central Festival? And if he does, it wouldn't be "parallel". I'd like to try some Israeli food just for kicks since I'm interested in war tourism. Can someone please just give directions even a drunken Soi Bouikow pedestrian with a pocket full of money can understand? Start at Soi LK Metro or Soi Honey. Cheers mates.

OK...starting at soi Buk end of soi Honey take a left turn past the Siam sawasdee hotel walk for a couple of hundred metres on the same side of the road and you will come to Kasikorn bank and Tesco Lotus express,on the left a few metres further on is soi Bukhaow food market this is the place where JT is referring to... Central Festival entrance on second road can be clearly seen and is indeed parallel to the market area  ;)

I found it today. You two have the word "parallel" mixed up but no worries. For those interested, it's where Tony's upstairs gym is(or was? didn't notice a Tony's sign???) and across from what was the best Thai food restaurant in town, Num Chai, which of course closed due to too much farang business and is now a fruit stand...The Greek place is also upstairs which wasn't mentioned earlier. Simons is not easy to see but there. The market itself has been dismantled for some again, unknown reason. The logic on Soi Bouikow, starting with the lack of sidewalks, is amazing. Such a waste of brainpower.

That's a failing farang food joint, then the turn off as I described. I don't know how you come up with some of these directions unless it's to confuse people? I'll be in that area in disguise tomorrow so will once again get directions English speakers can grasp.

I found a street with 5 indian restaurants, do you know them ?

Easy to find, central pattaya, close to the beach, there is a market with a rice + mango 24 hours seller (very famous it seems), walk in the small soi next to the mango seller and you will find at least 5 indian restaurants !

Is it a new spot ?

Indian Rasoi is primarily an Indian restaurant. Not sure what you're on about calling it a failing farang food joint. Yes they put some Russian items on the menu but most of the customers are South Asian and not ordering that there. I think even most of the Russians order Indian food there.

The same as Indian Touch, as I have already said, opposite the Nova Platinum Hotel, but a TAD further towards Jomtien. Just a tad.

Oh yeah, I know where you mean now!
I've tried some of those places over the years.

There are more Indian places going deeper into that soi and turning right.

They are generally lower end places and I've yet to have a meal there in that area that was very good.

Maybe unlucky.

There are so many of them and they change a lot.

Many low end hotels catering to South Asians in that general area.

Really not sure if it's still open but there was one place somewhat close to that area that I liked a lot. It's out of the way. I think go to Soi 10 off Pattaya Klang and walk down that soi. If it's still there it's on the right. I think I recall it was Gujarati specialist food.

where there is BED TIME hotel.

The BED TIME hotels are way over across third road, near the "drop your shorts" venues. This discussion is really getting below the belt.....

As for the "failing farang joint", it isn't an Indian restaurant, and is next to Indian Touch. Then I recall the street turn off, but like I said, I'm wearing my Indian disguise tomorrow and will visit the area and report back. I could be wrong, there might be another restaurant before the turn off but I don't think so...It's not an argument, just being sure. O O

Yes there is a guesthouse Indian restaurant going further towards Jomtien from Indian Touch AND Indian Rasoi (which are very close to each other). I've looked at the guesthouse place menu and it looked OK but never tried. They generally seem empty.

BTW, did we ever resolve the "mutton" controversy, is it lamb or goat in Pattaya Indian restaurants? They charge(and serve in small quantities) as if it's lamb, but I'd swear it's goat, which should be inexpensive.

Mutton is usually goat in local Indian restaurants but it's not a strong tasting style of goat. In other words it doesn't taste like goat would taste in Mexico or the U.S. It's an OK substitute for lamb. Lamb on the menu probably is sometimes goat too which is wrong. I think it's usually Halal meat as well.

There is no point in the big numbers.

The counters count. You seem to count. I don't care about the number.

The point of THIS topic, again, is in the OP, and relates to the restaurant scene in Pattaya, which I do care very much about as long as I'm here.

Cheers, dude.

Meat always taste different in other parts of the world. Take Australian beef as an example. It has that wild game taste which I feel like Conan the Barbarian when eating. There is no way New Zealand lamb is the same cost as Pattaya raised goat, yet the Indian restaurants charge as if New Zealand lamb for "mutton" dishes. Shame on them. I thought Halal meat was restricted to fowl, not beef or lamb? Doesn't matter.

You were correct on the location of the Rasio Indian. I went last night in disguise and in addition to seeing said restaurant, I carefully noted the staff out back's behaviour and peeked into the kitchen, which was a mess. Along that hotel entrance I was also approached by two Uzbekistan hookers. To my shock, they spoke Hindu as well as some English. Asked for 2000.Baht prepaid right there on said street before coming to my room across the street at the Nova Platinum(where I said I was staying). I was shocked to learn Indian guys prepay such sums to ladies looking like these two, but I guess they figure it's "group sex" which means six or eight guys in the room. They weren't "stunners" by any stretch of one's imagination. Large boo-sums and large <deleted> and middle aged women. Shocking all of it. ps: Food at Indian Touch was good!

Map reference points might be useful. I use 'Here' maps.

Directions using well know landmarks are better mate. Maps off the internet tend to be much too general and confusing. Proper use of "parallel" and "across from" and "upstairs" also help. Cheers.

No Rocky Mountain Oysters served here.....damn.

Is it different from kosher meat?

Kosher food complies with Jewish dietary law (kashrut), again governing what can and cannot be eaten by those practising the faith.

There are similarities in the method of slaughter in that both require use of a surgically sharp knife and specially-trained slaughtermen.

Jewish law strictly forbids the use of stunning and meats are not blessed in the same way.

Unlike for halal, kashrut does not require God's name to be said before every slaughter after an initial blessing.

Kashrut forbids the consumption of certain parts of the carcass, including the sciatic nerve and particular fats.

Halal also forbids consumption of some carcass parts including the testicles and bladder.

As mentioned before, by design there is no required format for giving location in this thread. People are of course encouraged to state location but how to do so is entirely up to them.

The Thai food "buffet" at Mr. Polenta has been discontinued due to  lack of interest.

Couscous Royale on weekends previously mentioned at La Petite Planete beside Tukcom is not on every weekend. Not sure if cancelled or not but don't count on it if you go.

Hi; I didn't visit pattaya for few months and I say that the restaurant at Thapraya road near the police booth near the street going to market and hotel with high tower is closed ? Do you know why ?

How can people close so quickly a business after having spent so much to open it ? They don't feel stupid before it's time to close it and try to change the way it's done ?

I will never understand why so many restaurants open and close in Thailand, do they all belong to people who know nothing about this business ?

Also I don't understand the problem of people complaining that we bump old threads, isn't it a lot less stupid than opening new ones on the same topic ?
