Help With Home Studio

Featured Replies

I'm looking to set up a home studio for product shots and would like some advice.

Because my business involves working with textiles, fabric is the easiest choice for a backdrop. I will use the matt side of synthetic fabric as this shouldn't crease too much.

I'm not sure about what lighting I need. Most of the items are small, however there is the odd larger piece, plus occasionally I will be using models. Colors of the products will very from dark, grainy leathers to bright satins. So the lighting will need to be versatile.

I'd prefer to keep costs under B7,000, however as it will be used for business I'm prepared to spend more if necessary. Can anyone off advice on lighting? Such as type/brand, price and where to buy in Bkk.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I had a neighbour doing something similar to what you are trying to do... (he's now back in Russia) .... but made a very simple clamp on light arrangement and used aluminum foil in a basket like thing...with white cloth to defuse the light.... It's a little hard to explain.... but cost him a few hundred baht...

Not sure if i have a picture some where, I'll look or email him and see if he has a pic.... and post it if can find!!!

No idea of shops in BKK that would have... I was in a department store in Brunei last year, where I saw the biggest selection of Photographer supplies I had seen anywhere... but a little too far to go!... whistling.gif
