Hi just a few questions regarding my settlement visa

I am currently just waiting for bank statements and a letter from my solicitor confirming where i have got some funds from. I currently don’t have any savings but have sold some offices i owned in England for 25k. I will in the next 4 weeks have the funds in my account and a letter from my sol confirming where i got the funds from.

I have several options

1) Wait for the funds to show in my account and the submit my application

2) Ask my mum if she can act as a joint sponsor for me as she has wage slips etc for the last 6 months. if so how do i go about it?

3) submit my application without the bank statements and then present them at the interview stage ( if possible)

I would like to start working for myself on my return to England as i have stayed in Thailand now for the last 10 months i don’t have a job to return to on my return.

I have also spoken to a company i know who would be willing to give me work on my return to England they can also send a letter to my home address confirming this and then i can have it forwarded to me. If so would a letter from the company suffice or would i also need the contract.

But as mentioned in no 2 i could ask my mum to act as the sponsor is this feesable? i own my own home so would live there.

But i would prefer to work for myself but have no accounts etc as the company would be started on my return to UK. But i will do what is best for my visa application any views and comments on the options mentioned would be much appreciated.

I have nearly got the application completed now just the financial section is needed now. We have just married and she is now 4 months pregnant so time is running out as she can’t fly after 7-7 1/2 months so i need to get my application in as soon as i can.

Sorry also i dont have my birth certificate is this needed if so can i get a copy without returning to England?

Any help would be much appreciated

Jay,

From what you've posted, it would appear that your best option is to get a formal letter from your prospective employer stating that you will have a job upon your return and what your salary will be. Providing that the offer is genuine, and you do actually intend at this time to take the job, there is nothing preventing you from deciding to work for yourself once you reach the UK. If you wish your mother to act as a financial sponsor, then she will need to provide you with a letter stating this, and supply evidence of her ability to support herself and the 2 of you until such a time as you have work. I would also state in your covering letter that you will have £25000 in the bank within the next 4 weeks.

You won't need your birth certificate.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Why don't you get a lawyer to help? For my wife's settlement visa it cost 4000 baht. They just tell you what to submit, etc. Made the whole process hassle free.

£25K should be enough to satisfy the ECO that you won't need public funds, even if you don't have any work yet. But you will need to show that the funds are available.

As you are in somewhat of a hurry I suggest that you submit all your evidence with the application in the hope of getting short interview treatment. If your bank statements do not show the funds then hopefully the ECO will accept the solicitor's letter. If not then she will not get a short interview so you can produce the requisite bank statements at the interview.

The alternative is, as you say, for your mum to act as a financial sponsor. To do this she will have to provide the evidence that she has the funds to do so.

You don't need your birth certificate, as your passport proves that your are a British citizen.
