When I was in China, I used to see both men and women of all age groups wandering around in their pj's in the mornings. Usually getting breakfast, and then wandering off home.

Yep, it's all over Asia, including Japan. Nothing special.

Ok in Ireland where im from, some girls walk around in pyjamas. And not just walking next door to visit their friend, mean walk to a store, get on a bus into the main city or whatever. Is this common in some other contries and I think it's totally normal.

Yes, but can you really call the Irish... normal?

Just joking of course. laugh.png

Amazing that someone who obvbiously is not interested in discussing trivial things is unable to tell from the topic title that it would not interest him.

Nobody forces you to read the thread you know!

Pyjamas are under rated when you think about it. coffee1.gif

Yup.....I think I've revised my previous opinion......I think Thai ladies should wear pyjamas all day if they want.

Uhu.....yup, good idea. smile.png

My brother in law drives around in his towel. Never figured that one out either.

That picture is stuck in my head, sbk and I had to laugh. Does he have anything on under the towel? laugh.png

I have never dared to ask.

YOu can think yourself lucky he wears a towel. Once it would be a leangth of thin cotton cloth wrapped round his wawste and if in public pulled up between his legs.

That still happens here in our village, my BIL does it all the time.

Also before we came here and bought nightdresses for the neices for their birthdays they would go to bed in the clothes they wore during the day. My wife says everyone in village does the same as they cannot afford to buy clothes to go to bed.

Bought them too for the wife, together with dressing gowns but with instructions not to be worn in bed only after shower before going to bed then when she gets up out of bed in the morning.

I like the feel of bare flesh.

I always love those people at Walmart photos. I sometimes wonder if they have been staged... like the Jerry Spring show. People can't be THAT weird, can they?

it's funny I was thinking about this the other day, though I suggest that rather than wearing pyjamas no clothing would be a lot easier on the eye in some cases

I am addressing the question "Why do Thai girls wear their pyjamas out in public?"

Why do we see some foreigners parading around in public half naked?

Male or female? I don't think there are too many complaints about slim females walking around half naked. But, maybe over weight men or women might not be so appealing if they don't cover up..

Actually you see because you are looking. You don't have to look. So a more accurate question would be why are you looking at half naked foreigners?biggrin.png Does your momma know?thumbsup.gif

Male or Female does not matter.

My question was...

Why do we see some foreigners parading around in public half naked?

Is it a crime to wear pyjamas in public?

OP please note - Actually you see because you are looking.

This pyjama trend is also alive and well in Australia.

Yes, it is adopted by slovenly white trash girls in the poorer working class suburbs.

I agree. I've only seen in the villages.

As I said before, it DOESN'T matter. It only matters if you view it from a negative perspective. People in their own country do things as they are accustomed to doing. In the native villages of the upper Amazon the local people walk around entirely naked as they have been doing for centuries. They only started putting on western clothing when foreigners started entering their villages, and then only because Christian missionaries got all uptight about it and tried converting everyone to their own perverted way of life.

I'm not sure about the Walmart thing being a set-up but oh my god there are total weirdos EVERYWHERE! Just the other week, I was walking my dog in the woods and a man walked passed us in just a body-warmer/gilet and Y Fronts. I took photo's in case I read something nasty in the newspaper the following day but I think he was just a blatent weirdo.

It takes all kinds to make up this strange world we live in. And, I do agree with others here that Thailand seems to attract more than its share of odd people. Maybe that is why I like it.

That would definitely be something NOT to see :D Good on Poo Ying FeFe for taking the picture though. I guess if you come across something like that you need to keep it for future generations not to see.

About the pyjamas or pyjama style clothes in public, I think it is just a matter of comfort. Not particularly pleasant to the eye (cases like the picture theblether has posted excluded) but not offending either. I think it is a lot more unpleasant when, usually foreigners but also some Thais go around without a shirt or t-shirt on. Not on beaches, on normal streets, shopping centers, etc. Not looking for them, but difficult not to see.
