hi,

i drive a fortuner 4*4 automatic,

lately when i am at medium-high speet and push on the brakes, the car starts shaking-vibrating, i can see the steering wheel shaking too..

the tyre shop says everything looks aligned

wht can the problem be?

Sounds like a ball joint or an arm (although sounds like you've had the alignment checked which SHOULD have discovered that).

Is it a tight/sharp vibration or does it shake loosely - possibly even noisily?

Starting to lean towards transam's ABS theory.

There was a widespread issue with warped front rotors in Fortuners, which was rectified in the August 2008 minor change. Sounds like yours could possibly be one of the earlier ones?

Now you are making sense, Takarakataka means you are low on break-fluid or your (direct-wheel) brake blocks have been abused(possibly while driving down the mountain)...

Replace them and report back.

hi Dancealot, i think you nailed it. it all started after I have been on a mountain, with a strong slope on the way down. although the break fluid box seems full, I will have the brake blocks checked. I will report back!
