Any constructive ideas, thoughts or comments on the above would be welcome wai.gif

Using the above suggested solution would also require that you install a WiFi network in your car.rolleyes.gif

Interesting concept, might work.

Rather than a Wi-Fo netowrk in the car you MIGHT be able to connect the tablet and camera in a pier to pier mode IF the tablet supports that

It's very easy to set most modern smartphones up as a Wifi Hotspot.

As for "pier to pier" mode, I think that might only work at Bali Hai.

Meh, that's really just for sharing a mobile data connection - assuming the tablet is 3G compatible, and will not allow you to connect the camera to the tablet.

You'd really have to set up a WiFi network within the car, using a separate WiFi AP, and then connect both the tablet and camera to the WiFi AP.

Some tablets and android support direct-wifi. Haven't looked into it to see how or if it would work in this application.

Yes, as long as the "camera" supports WiFi Direct, along with the tablet, then conceivably this application may work. So you could mount your Android phone (which has Android 4.0, and a camera) on your rear bumper, along with some SW ( IP Webcam for example from the Play Store) and connect it to the tablet. Maybe best to stick with the low-tech solution: mirrors, or a dedicated after-market solution which integrates into the ent/nav display?

For many cctv systems you need an app. Common wifi cameras have their own small server. You can open them in any web browser The camera on top is an old system. that won't work at all with your pad.

look for the words: ip camera.. Something like this here below. Link here.

And off you go! biggrin.png And you can even see the rear view of you car from the comfort of your home. (if you fancy it)

I was just thinking the same. Additionally, a person should use quality duct tape or 3M adhesive to to keep the phone mounted to the rear bumper. And assuming a person won't be turning the phone off when parking the car a person will probably have to tap the phone into the car's 12V power system to keep the phone charged up and running. Boy, is this beginning to sound like a Redneck setup or what. laugh.png
