Insuring Camera

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is there a company that does insurance for things such as cameras here in BKK? In particular I'm looking for insurance against theft. Are there any companies here in BKK that would do this kind of thing? Many thanks for any insight!

That's a good question... I was going to ask that myself as I now have EOS 5D and added with all the lenses I have, it would amount to a figure close to the price tag of cheap pick-up truck and I simply can't afford to lose them but also can't put them in a glass case, lock it up and drool over it....

Just ask your Thai friends around you and let them find an insurange agent. I once had my laptop costing 150,000 Baht and a digital camera insured 4 - 5 years ago for a year but I don't remember the premium and other details... And I don't think they would pay you against 100% value of a new product and they will most probably not pay you for baggage lifting in case you had your unattended camera bag stolen. I had my laptop repaired under the insurance when I damaged the logic board by mishandling when installing new RAM. There was a deductible though but I don't remember the percentage....

Check out your home insurance policy.

Most offer an ALL RISKS section and that is where items like camera,

lenses and laptops need to be covered.

The additional premium is not usually very high.

Make sure you list all the items, with model and serial numbers and value.
