Wlan At The Airport

Featured Replies

Although there is the possibility of free Wlan at every gate, you have to ask for login data and stay at the "free WiFi area". A better possibility is the 3bb/ais hotspot. If you have the 25Bt/week unlimited access via your 12 call card you can use this login at the airport.

Unfortunately for newly arrived international travellers waiting for a domestic flight they will not have a 12 call card or have any knowledge of accessing the system. When you get to the gate and try to logon to the free airport wifi you are told you have to get a coupon from the info desk. This seems a crazy idea as you are now in a position where you can't go back to the desk.

I don't see why they need my name and passport number for a free wifi ticket!

But hey this is Thailand

Yes, it is Thailand. They need your ID like many Non Thailand countries do!

But, hey, you can buy a 1-2-call card in the airports family market, load some money, connect to AIS or 3bb hotspot, register and within a few seconds you are online... Without ID...

If you have been in the situation before then you might just as well go to the info desk and get a log on.

A lot of travellers don't know this.

KL, Singapore and Schipol don't bother with this charade so why Thailand?

If they need the info why not be allowed to enter on the access page?
