February 7, 201313 yr The names above are the (attempted transliteration of) Thai, Latin & English names, respectively, of a medicinal herb of which I'd like to find a reliable supply in Thailand (preferably BKK). It is considered by some to be effective in treating everything from insect bites to cancer. I know I can get it shipped from Malaysia, but from what I've read, it is also grown extensively in this country, & if I can get it here, I assume it may be cheaper, fresher & certainly more convenient. Has anyone any idea where I can buy it please? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

February 10, 201313 yr You might try the herbal pharmacies found in most government hospitals, these sell thai herbal remedies that are FDA approved. BTW it is not "effective for everything from insect bites to cancer". In particular there is absolutely no evidence it is effective in treating any type of cancer. But it does appear to have some efficacy in treatment of herpes and also in relieving the pain/itching if insect bites. Seems to have both anti-inflammatory and possibly antiviral properties. There has been a fair amount of research in it in Thailand so clearly the herb is available here. See if your nearest district hospital has a shop selling Thai traditional medicines, many do . http://www.ncbi.nlm..../pubmed/8576675 http://thaiherbinfo.com/en/herbal_detail.php?id_herb=59
