Tragic story.

If the Brother in law was owed money why not just ask the brother? Has the Brother in Law in some way been shamed by his brother and wife?

I just wonder what is worse, a Thai losing face or a muslim family being shamed.

pakistan-3.jpg

PATTAYA:--The investigation into the apparent murder of a 44 year old Thai Woman, who lives and works in Switzerland but was in Thailand for a 3 month holiday, continues. Police have indicated the prime suspect to be the victims Brother-in-law who is known to have left Thailand.

Police Colonel Somnook, the Nongprue Police Chief, announced on Monday Afternoon that no arrest warrants have been issued at this point in the investigation due to lack of evidence. He is waiting for DNA results from the crime scene and statements from the victim’s family.

What he has ascertained is a possible motive behind the murder. It is thought a disagreement over who holds the title deeds of a new house the victim and her Husband had purchased escalated into serious confrontations between the victim and the Brother-in-Law, named as Mr. Muhammad Yusaf aged 47, who wanted the house to be transferred to his name, even though this is not permitted under Thai Law.

Suspect in Nongprue murder flees to Pakistan

A Pakistani man believed to have killed his Thai sister-in-law in Nongprue fled Thailand before the murder was even discovered. Police said Muhammad Yousef, 47, took a Thai Airways International flight bound for Karachi, Pakistan and Muscat, Oman after allegedly bludgeoning Nonglak Chaloeijanya Ashfaq, 45, at her home. Her body was discovered Feb. 17, but officials believe she’d been dead at least five days.

Ornna Jungwongsukh, a contractor working on a house across the street from Nonglak’s, told police Feb. 17 that two men in traditional Muslim dress visited the victim on Feb. 9, the same day Yousef had entered Thailand, but paid little mind to it until he discovered Nonglak was killed.

The victim’s sister, Malee Chaloeyjanya, 54, said Nonglak and Yousef had engaged in numerous arguments over property, which he supposedly wanted registered under his name. They also fought over ownership of her Toyota Vigo pickup truck, Malee said. Based on reports from the contactor and Malee, police immediately suspected Yousef of the murder, but discovered he’d left the country before the body was discovered.
