3Bb And Traffic Shaping ?

I wonder if anyone has come across the following, if i use skype often the conversation starts to go bad around the 10 minute mark. I can hear them but they cant hear me anymore. Its always around the same time.

Could this be traffic shaping, i have seen them throttle my downloads when i have those after a certain amount of time could they be doing the same with skype.

If so i would find it totally unacceptable (for downloads i can understand just a bit). I am on the 16mb 1 mb package paying over 1600bt a month.

Did you try more than one device? ...maybe trying Skype on a smartphone using your 3BB WiFi.

No i havent tried that yet but you mean using skype on my smartphone through my home network to see if it goes wrong too ? Or using skype on my ipad to see if it goes wrong through the home network ?

Ok i will try that tomorrow, and yes i called the technician a few times. But only after a while i started to realize it always happened after a certain amount of time. I started to time it to make sure it was not a coincidence.

I just checked my paperwork. I paid for a year up front: 10,731.50 baht.

That is made up of: 900 + 7% VAT = 963 baht / month

963 x 12 months = 11,556 baht

Less 8% discount (don't know why) of 924.50 baht = 10,731.50 baht.

The bill every month just shows 900 - 72 baht discount and doesn't mention the VAT, which you are quite right about.

However, speed tests to Bangkok show 16/1 and the modem is connected at 17.5 / 1.25 (I guess the 'extra' is to make sure you get the advertised speeds, but don't know for sure).

and don’t have those problems. I’m on skype all the time. Was told this pkg.

I never had that problem before and i was on the premium before to be honest it did not make any change except it was more expensive for less speed. (was on the package for 2 years) Been on this package for a few years but have recently noticed this problem. Today i will check it more it has to do with upload speeds for sure.

Hi mamypoko - don't mind which browser, but Chrome would be preferable to IE.

Just click on Parsippany, NJ which should be at the top of the list of servers and post what you get for up and down speeds.

I just tried it: 417 / 661 and 629 / 820 - Kb/s down / Kb/s up. Absolutely pathetic!

As you can see, I get better up than down!

Your Megapath.com test is, I'm sure, totally bogus.

I tested to New York and got 14.8 Mbps Down / 1 Mbps Up.

This is the speed to Bangkok, not to New York.

This seems very unlike what I usually get. However, I don't usually use dslreports for speedtesting, and when I do I use a USA West Coast location usually.

That is a very good download speed:

Can you repeat it? (I find sometimes the test is clearly wrong the first time I use it.)

Also, what package do you have? Is it a "Premier" package?

I have the 5/1 Premiere package at my house, which is what I am taking these results from.

I also have the lowest regular package in another location. I usually get slightly lower speeds on that when, although the speeds are acceptable for me.

This is to LA at 7:45 pm.

Thanks for the info (Your post edited to show image). You are not the first person to have said they get fairly good results from the Premier package.
