English speaking staff at 3BB's 1530 hotline is now only available between 8:30 and 22:00 - at other times you will end up at a voice mail system.

Bold move 3BB ! I love to hear my favourite sentence more often: We call you back.

One of the staff there speaks nice English sadly when she says she will call back it is not here that doessad.png . With the others I find it is easier to speak thai with them.

I wonder how the German speaking population feels, or the French or Spanish, Italian, Russian etc etc. The point being that this is Thailand where the first language is Thai!

Yes and 99.9% of those German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian etc speak a conversational amount of English and they also rely on the English speaking customer service departments while traveling abroad. English has long been the de-facto international business language, I do realize this is broad thinking and that "international" is that scary place beyond the Kingdom that must not be spoken of by Thais, as it will decrease their Thainess.

Fair comment, in part, the question really is I suppose, why should a Thai ISP even bother to offer an English language support service in the first place, actually they seem to be asking that same question themsleves by reducing the service. I mean, it's not as though the English language only segment of their customer base is likely to represent more than 0.5% of their customer base!

Apologies but a quick afterthought: I suspect here in Thailand the English only (as in non-Thai speaking foriegners) speaking segment of any Thai business is extremely small and that Thailand's contribution to internationalism is vested in support primariliy for the Japanese and Chinese population perhaps followed by Malay and Indian, given that the nearest English as a first language country is several thousands of miles away, that only makes sence, after all, this is not Kansas!

I found this out the last time it rained and I was sick of being cut off by water in the works.

I called them gone midnight and got the voice mail. I hung up and called again later in case it was busy the first time, but got the voice mail again. I left no messages.

Then at 9:15am the next day the b*ggars called me to ask what the problem was. Jeez! Can't a guy get any sleep?

The headline is confusing. It says "3Bb Axes English Hotline Staff" but begs the question: "Axed them what?"

Can't nobody speak good english around here?

I was wondering that myself "Axed them what?"

"this is not Kansas!" true because then they would be required have to have spanish also. The one thing about the EU I like is the fact that unlike the US english is required subject in school.

Pun - asked = Axed with a heavy touge - sorry you didn't get it. staff was axed - asked what?

This is not Kansas = response to one that thinks only the first lauguage in any country should be used, when in fact it is not the case in many places also - even kansas.

i fail to see the issue, why would they have support staff online after (already extended) business hours?

do ANY other providers in Thailand have 24 hour hotline service, let alone in English?
