A friend has have recently torn their ACL; current prognosis using MRI, pivot-shift test, anterior drawer test and the Lachman test all indicate that there is a tear but it isn't clear whether it is a full tear or partial, yet. There is some instability and a lot of swelling.

My own knowledge is that most of the time in sports spinning injuries the tear is usually a full tear.

So....assuming that it is and he wants to return to sports, can anyone recommend specific surgeons familiar with an ACL reconstruction using preferably the Hamstring technique?

He was given the name of a surgeon at Bamrungrahd but seems highly likely his medical insurance only covers some of the cost, so since he is paying, he wants to go to the best possible place.

Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

The best sports medicine ortho specialists are indeed to be found at Bumrungrad.

Dr. Mason (Harvard trained) and Dr. Panya (trained in Japan) have both been favorably recommended by other TV members and while I cannot say specifically what technicques they are familiar with, my impression is that they are both quite up to date.
